Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, prepare for Heat A of the CRASH & BURN TOURNAMENT!
Our first two robots are...
AXEON, with its front 8mm hardox-armoured wedge, and hugely powerful rack-and-pinion powered axe that can punch holes in titanium! It also has a fan/vacuum set-up to prevent it from jumping around. But is it too powerful for its own good?
and JIM STRUTS from Series 2. Not much to say here; a box on struts, obviously, with a big face painted on the front. It has poor speed, and it doesn't seem like it can put up much of a fight...
Roboteers, stand by...
The house robots be-eth Dead Metal and Growler. (if it's all right, I'd like to get some help for some house bots; I have some names already)
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
So it begins! WHOA! Axeon has hurled itself across the arena already, and has struck the legs of Jim Struts. He must want the pain to begin fast! The walker rides overtop of the hacker, and with a slight BANG lands back down. But Axeon has found its way to the back of Jim Struts, and brings down that 2 tonnes of force in a devastating axe blow that punctures Jim Struts' backside like a sheet of paper! If the walkbot had a real mouth, he would be screaming in torment as he now tries vainly to get away from Axeon, but that 15mph speed beats Jim Struts as AJ's bot circles around Jim Struts to face the front. Axeon apparently has no thought of letting this poor excuse for a microwave reach a judges' decision and so barrels right into the front of Jim Struts, sliding the front wedge under the legs and throwing him right on top of Axeon. The axe fires again, but being right underneath Jim Struts the point merely taps the underbelly of the walker, causing little to no damage. However, Axeon has a completely devilish idea and turns right around to face the wall...right in front of the angle grinder! Is he going to? YES! Axeon hurls himself straight into the arena wall, still with Jim Struts on top of him, and one of Jim Struts' legs meets the angle grinder in a brilliant flash of sparks! This result is not pretty, as the leg is now hanging onto Jim Struts by a few wires and cables. But the final result of this smash into the wall is even worse: Jim Struts has been propped up against the wall at a perfect 45 degree angle, and the legs are not moving! Axeon, having backed away as Jim Struts fell against the wall, rams him again, and this may have brought Jim Struts back into the game, as he falls right back onto his legs, which work again immediately, and tramples off towards the pit release. But Axeon lets him be for a moment, and decides to have a go at the house bots. Hurtling straight into Growler, Axeon gets the wedge underneath the doggy and digs into him with the axe. How about that? The axe actually harmed Growler! Seemingly trapped between the axe and wedge, Growler watches as Jim Struts walks right into the pit release, opening the depth of doom that we know as the pit. Axeon turns, just in time to see Dead Metal collide with Growler, who is still trapped. Dead Metal tries to get around Growler, but Axeon shoves Dead Metal's bud right into him. Uh oh! Refbot has held up that yellow card! Axeon releases Growler, sulking, and both Growler and Dead Metal return to their CPZs. Axeon returns his attention to Jim Struts, who is walking right towards him with no intention of stopping. Needless to say, it's a great effort of courage, but still vain as Axeon plows right into him and buries the axe once more into Jim Struts, and again the axe delivers major effect, shearing through the armour of the walker with little difficulty. Axeon then shoves forward, driving Jim Struts onto the wedge, and forcing his own axe back a bit, and shoves him towards the pit - OH, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, GROWLER?! That danged house robot rammed Axeon from the side and nearly tipped him over! Jim Struts, however, HAS been tipped over, and flails about hopelessly as Refbot sidles over and begins the omnious countdown...
One...two...three...four...five...six...seven...eight...nine...TEN!
Well, Jim Struts might be out, be Axeon is still taking on Growler...who has just been shoved into the pit. And that's that.
CEASE!
Jim Struts might need a cane after that. ;D AXEON ADVANCES TO ROUND TWO!

Post by Kody on Feb 17, 2009 14:49:47 GMT -5
And so begins our next battle in the heat. The two competitors who are looking to rip each other to subatomic pieces are…
KNIGHTROUS WEDGE, a Slam Job-shaped wedge with a flat top, an insanely powerful flipper powered by a unique hydraulics system, and invertibility. The speed! The pushability! The strength! But is the emphasis on those three words great enough to overcome…
TOBY THE T-RAM ENGINE? Rather larger than his opponent, Old Toby sports skirts all around and rams opponents with his front plough. Also sporting 15mm Lexan armour and rollbars to prevent being stuck on his back, this little engine is rougher than he looks.
Roboteers, stand by…
The house robots for today are Shunt and Mr. Psycho.
3… 2… 1… ACTIVATE!
And here we go again! Knightrous Wedge, with its 40MPH speed, zooms right into an oncoming Toby, and the resulting crash even makes the house robots tremble in their little footies! Unfortunately, neither is able to get underneath the other, and so they back up and try again. But Toby has barely started going when Knightrous Wedge plows into him again! To Aaron's consternation, Knightrous Wedge forgot to notice that Toby pulled off an old trick: the power dive. So Toby stopped, driving his plough almost right into the ground, and Knightrous Wedge, as a result, drives right into the plough and up sideways, onto his rear! Without wasting a moment, Toby bores straight into Mr. Psycho's CPZ, and slams the Slam Job look-a-like into the house robot. The crazed antagonist gets ready to bring the hammer, but Knightrous Wedge, using his quick thinking, fires the flipper, which is in contact with Mr. Psycho, and flings himself across the arena, landing right onto his back. And so Mr. Psycho does bring down the hammer…onto Toby's plough! Luckily, the blow glanced off of Toby, and so no visible damage seems to be…visible. Knightrous Wedge rights himself ala T-Minus, with a 540 degree flip that awes the crowd, and is backed into by Toby. Back skirt meets side skirt, and they are stopped again. Knightrous Wedge wheels himself towards Toby's side, hoping to get a shot, but Toby keeps reversing. Aaron, however, wants to see a flying robot show and chases right after him. Toby stops…and Aaron has once again fallen for the power dive trick…no! Knightrous Wedge has stopped right in front of Toby. It looks like a real Mexican stand-off…only we ain't got no Mexicans. Neither are moving. Refbot comes over and slightly nudges Knightrous Wedge, who turns to drive him off. Bingo! Toby rams into Knightrous Wedge, and this time the reverse happens: Toby flies right on top of Knightrous Wedge, but onto the side. Aaron, in his delight, hits the flipper button too soon: the flipper hits Toby and gently nudges him over. This, however, has saved Knightrous Wedge from flipping itself, and as Toby rolls over, Knightrous Wedge catches him before the skirts hit the floor. Fasten your seatbelts, gents! Whoosh! With the flick of a button, the flipper of Knightrous Wedge activates again, with Toby on top. The 120 degree angle of the flipper means that not only has Toby been flung high into the air, but over top of Knightrous Wedge as well! He lands just inside of the arena, but the rollbars look very bent after that landing, and Toby just makes it onto his wheels, only to be rammed again by Knightrous Wedge, who turned around just in time. Skirt meets skirt again, and again the two stop completely; Knightrous Wedge reverses and goes for the rammer again, but finds that he is gone. Then he sees that Toby has rammed into the pit release, opening the dreaded pit! Aaron laughs in the control booth, figuring that that is a cheap way to win, and so Knightrous Wedge advances on Toby - WATCH OUT! Knightrous Wedge has again run over the plough of Toby, and nearly threw himself into the pit! Toby rushes forward, eager to punt the Australian bot into the pit, but Knightrous Wedge reverses away…
10…9…8…7…
Toby spins around, and reverses at Knightrous Wedge, but Knightrous spins around and around to glance the blow away…
6…5…4…
Knightrous Wedge hurtles into a CPZ, and tosses a very surprised Shunt into one of the cameras…
3…2…1…
Mr. Psycho advances, but is rammed by Toby…
CEASE!
Well, this will go to the judges, then.
Knightrous Wedge - Toby the T-Ram Engine
Categories will be marked out of 5…
Aggression = (4 - 1) Style = (2 - 3) Control = (3 - 2) Damage = (3 - 2) Strategy = (3 - 2)
Total = (15 - 10)
By a 15-10 judges decision, Old Toby might be better off smoking Pipe-Weed and not steam. ;D KNIGHTROUS WEDGE ADVANCES TO ROUND 2!

Post by Kody on Feb 17, 2009 14:50:20 GMT -5
Agh! You're still here?! Well this is the third fight, so let's just get through this. Our two monsters today are…
NSBFR-X, an invertible box wedge with 5mm grade 5 titanium armour, side and rear skirts, and many weapon attachments. For this battle NSBFR-X will use the drum. However, this robot has never seen before a fic robot like…
Y4, with its T-Minus shape and high-powered flipper. It also has 5mm titanium, whether it is grade 5 remains to be seen. However, semi-exposed wheels may be a problem.
Roboteers, stand by…
The house robots today are Sir Killalot and Matlida.
3… 2… 1… ACTIVATE!
It's NSBFR-X who begins the fight off, careening off at Y4, who casually slips aside as NSBFR-X goes sailing by. Frank turns NSBFR-X 90 degrees, and waits for Y4 to come near. But Y4 is not that stupid. Nor is NSBFR-X, as he keeps his drum facing Y4, who is trying to get rush at NSBFR-X's sides. But with those skirts, what's the point? NSBFR-X advances, and Y4 slips aside again, this time reversing, and now driving right NSBFR-X's side! NSBFR-X turns, Y4 stops - too late, as NSBFR-X advances yet again and the drum connects with the front flipper. Y4 is sent violently backwards as Chris hits the flipper button, but again too late, and Y4 goes sailing into the air on his own accord. The flipper does not look after that collision, bent a little sideways. NSBFR-X waits for him to fall, and advances again, burying the drum into the side. It doesn't damage Y4, but it does tip him up. Y4 fires the flipper, and is sent flying off of NSBFR-X. The multi-weapon bot follows the T-Minus look-a-like around the arena again, as Y4 looks for something that might be able to help him…Matilda, perhaps? At least, that's what Chris thinks as Y4 advances on Matilda, but it's Matlida who gets under Y4 and lifts him up. Matilda wheels around to put Y4 against the wall, and something going at 20MPH slams right into her flywheel! A burst of sparks, a horrible crashing noise, and a very miserable looking Matilda, with the flywheel immobilized, wheels back into the CPZ; Y4 escapes, looking for NSBFR-X. NSBFR-X, however, does not look too good himself after the collision; the armour covering the bottom of NSBFR-X has been bent up, immobilizing the drum. New life has been given to Y4 as he rams NSBFR-X head on. Frank, however, is not one to give up in this silly little scuffle, and NSBFR-X pushes Y4 backwards. Y4 fires the flipper, and NSBFR-X is sent flying into the air, coming down rear-first on top of Y4, who drives backwards, and rams the multiweaponed bot against the wall. NSBFR-X goes flying off of Y4, and lands on his back. Incredibly and suddenly, the drum is working again! It seems that the pressure that bent up the base armour of the wedge into the drum after the horrid collision with Matilda has now been released, and the drum is freed from its metal hindrance, spinning wildly! Y4 is alarmed, and so decides to stop that drum again. He turns around and backs into NSBFR-X with the hope of ramming NSBFR-X's weapon into submission, but that hope is dispelled as the drum, now spinning the opposite way, drives Y4 into the ground, and giving NSBFR-X a little bit of air…and the drum is still working. Y4 again backs into NSBFR-X and catches the drum going a bit more slowly, brushing the second blow off, but driving right onto the wedge of NSBFR-X, who bores towards Sir Killalot's CPZ. The metal knight gets the Jaws of Life ready, but Y4 bounces off of Killalot and lands behind NSBFR-X, flipper facing NSBFR-X. And so Frank's Never Seen Before Fic Robot is now caught between the hammer and the anvil: Killalot's Jaws of Life, and Y4's flipper. Matilda comes trundling over, but NSBFR-X has made its move; towards Y4. But Y4's flipper catches the wedge and gets underneath it. Chris, bearing an inexplicable smirk, drives Y4, with NSBFR-X in front, towards the wall, and fires the flipper button, just as Matilda reaches the CPZ where they are, and slams her flywheel into Y4's backside. The back panel is ripped clean off, and Y4 halts, clearly immobilized, but had NSBFR-X not gone sailing onto the camera track 2 seconds before, Y4 would've lost. Matilda seems in a right state, and goes to smash more of Y4, but Refbot pushes her back into her CPZ.
CEASE!
NSBFR-X will now not be seen for another tournament or so. Y4 ADVANCES TO ROUND 2!!!

The contendahs today are…
AQUARIUS, with its Voltronic-style shape, front flipper, 25mph speed and 2-wheel invertibility. Its ground clearance of 5mm around the sides and back is not so good, but with 12mm titanium armouring, it is a good bet that it won't take much damage. However, its armour will probably be useless against…
KALI, who also has a speed of 25mph, plus sporting a Biohazard-style lifting arm, pneumatically powered. It sports boron carbide armour; 10mm in front, 5mm at sides and rear. On top it has 14mm polycarbonate. But it is not invertible, and having a Biohazard-style lifting arm, I'm not sure if it can self-right probably…
Roboteers, stand by…
Oooh! Our final two house bots are Sgt. Bash and Cassius Chrome. Shocker.
3… 2… 1… ACTIVATE!
Both bots slam head-first into each other, looking for an advantage, but it's Kali who gets underneath Aquarius and throws it into the air with the pneumatic power. Aquarius lands upside-down but slams into Kali again, sailing over the lifting arm and over Kali into the wall…? What's this? There's smoke in the CPZ? OH MY GOODNESS!!! SERGEANT BASH HAS PUT HIMSELF ON FIRE!!! Don't know how that happened…and there's Refbot, putting him out. Back to the real fight, Aquarius rights himself and is at Kali's rear. She turns, but is flipped by Aquarius; luckily, she tips off of her side and lands right side up. This does not please Tony, or Aquarius, who flies straight at Kali's rear again. Kali reverses, expecting to try the same trick…nope, Aquarius got the time right, and Kali is tipped over onto her back. Aquarius wheels around and, seeing Bash out of the way, tries to have his way with Cassius Chrome, who is waiting in the CPZ. And so getting under the plow of the idiotic-looking monster, Aquarius activates his flipper…to no avail. Cassius Chrome is merely tipped up a little bit and comes down. Meanwhile, Kali has righted herself, and twists 'round, flying at Aquarius who is underneath Cassius Chrome. Aquarius again drives forward, but Kali is too quick, and slides the arm under Aquarius, hoping to get an OOTA! That thought is dashed as Aquarius merely tips onto his back, and scuttles away, Cassius Chrome screaming after him after also coming back down. Kali chases them both…and cheekily stops and hits the pit release, opening the pit if push comes to shove. Aquarius rights himself…right into Cassius Chrome! Not good for Tony, as Cassius Chrome shoves Aquarius into the side wall, and up onto his rear. Kali drives right into Cassius Chrome's rear and begins lifting. The house robot is suddenly finding himself in a difficult situation, with only his plow on the ground, and his head to the wall. Against the wall and underneath Cassius Chrome, but not out, Aquarius fires the flipper, and pushes himself into Cassius Chrome. Cassius Chrome is shoved back into Kali, who again lifts the house robot. Aquarius backs into Kali, and fires the flipper. Cassius Chrome is tipped…and out! You saw it here! Cassius Chrome: over the fence and out of the arena! Refbot does not look too pleased. Time is running out, as Aquarius shoves himself backwards into Kali, who has the lifting up and so can't use it on Aquarius. Kali reverses, trying to separate Aquarius from her, but Aquarius keeps backing into her, and eventually…POW! Kali is shoved into the wall, and Aquarius scuttles away again. Oh dear! Kali's lifting arm is stuck! After that collision, no wonder!
10…9…8…7…
Aquarius wheels around and runs right into Kali, getting under her and throwing her into the air.
6…5…4…
Kali lands upside-down and can't right herself. Sgt. Bash is smoking ominously in the CPZ.
3…2…1…
Aquarius does a little victory spin…
CEASE!
Well, that was brutal! Sgt. Bash on fire, Cassius Chrome gone out of the arena; a true flipping frenzy! Let's hear from the judges.
Aquarius VS. Kali
Aggression = (3 - 2) Style = (2 - 3) Control = (2 - 3) Damage = (4 - 1) Strategy = (2 - 3)
Total = (13 - 12)
A very tight judges' decision; but nonetheless, Kali walks down the Hall of Shame. AQUARIUS ADVANCES TO ROUND 2!

Well, we have two mighty behemoths today, fighting like rabid dogs over the heat final. Here's how they got here.
Knightrous Wedge pulled off a judges decision after catapulting Toby the T-Ram Engine around the arena.
Axeon KO'd Jim Struts after repeatedly whacking the living hell out of it with the axe.
Roboteers, stand by...
The house robots today are Matilda and Sgt. Bash, who has been repaired.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Both bots zoom at each other again, but it's Aaron who draws first blood with Knightrous Wedge, who gets under the wedge of Axeon and rockets it high into the air! Axeon comes down hard but lands on its wheels and manuvers away as if nothing happened. This does nothing to ease Knightrous Wedge's temper, and so the Slam Job-shaped bot advances on Axeon, and again they slam into each other. Knightrous Wedge again gets under Axeon but fires the flipper too soon, just as Axeon is on the tip, and Axeon is gently turned over, righting itself with the axe. Unfortunately, the time it took to right itself cost Axeon the chance of moving a move as Knightrous Wedge gets under Axeon again, and throws the axebot into the air once again. Axeon again comes down hard, and rights itself once more. Before Knightrous Wedge can try his tactic again, Axeon reverses away and unwittingly hits the pit release, opening the pit! Aaron again laughs, knowing that Toby the T-Ram Engine pulled off this tactic before, and also laughing then: Knightrous Wedge flies straight at Axeon, who goes flying over the wedge before the flipper can launch him, lands behind Knightrous Wedge, and backs into him, but again drives up onto Knightrous Wedge's rear slope. Aaron's monster backs towards the wall with every intent on slamming Axeon against it, but Axeon scuttles off the wedge and makes a 180 turn off of one wheel into Knightrous Wedge's side! The wedge of Axeon gets underneath the side skirt, and Knightrous Wedge finds himself slanted at an angle! Down comes the axe into the 8mm titanium top armour! A tiny hole can be seen in the titanium. Knightrous Wedge is trying to get away, but it seems that his movement has been hindered since he is off the ground. A grin unfurls on AJ's face as he drives Aaron's flipbot towards the pit of doom. Suddenly, the flipper activates on Knightrous Wedge, but AJ saw that coming, and Knightrous Wedgelands right back on Axeon's wedge, but the line-up with the pit has been broken. Axeon turns and hammers Knightrous Wedge once more with the axe, and then dumps the proud bot down the hole.
CEASE!
Knightrous Wedge has blown out. AXEON ADVANCES TO THE HEAT FINAL!!

Well now! We're back to the fights, and back for more mayhem for our 2nd Round 2 fight!
Y4 tossed NSBFR-X OOTA before getting his back panel ripped clean off by Matilda.
Aquarius pulled off a controversial judges' decision over Kali based on damage.
Roboteers, stand by...
The house robots messing with da foo's are Sir Killalot and Dead Metal.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!
And Y4 starts off good, ramming straight into Aquarius, and getting under the lifting arm, tossing Aquarius high into the air! Aquarius comes back down but races off straight away before Y4 gets another chance. But the Dinowarrior doesn't give up a chase that asily and so Y4 follows Aquarius around the arena, hoping to get in a shot before his prey eludes him. But that's just what happens as Aquarius turns 135 degrees and zooms by Y4 before Chris' flipbot can blink. Y4 turns, and Aquarius goes right into Y4, backing into him. Y4 gleefully launches the flipper, sending Aquarius into orbit. Aquarius comes right down and lands upside-down, but being invertible rams Y4 again, and is again launched high, but this time over-top of Y4. Aquarius lands right-side-up and AGAIN rams Y4, getting the flipper underneath the T-Minus look-a-like and this time uses its own weapon to launch Y4 this time. Y4 spins through the air and lands right-side-up, only to land on Aquarius' flipping arm and gets sent into orbit again! Now the tide has turned as Aquarius follows the motion of Y4's movement and positions himself to get close enough to get another flip (Y4 lands on the arena wall and just makes it back in)...and another (Y4 is sent straight up this time; Aquarius does a 180)...and another (Chris looks right cheesed off)! Y4 lands right-side-up again but dodges another flip from Aquarius and hits the pit release button in panic, and the pit descends, but Y4 is now way too near the arena wall and Aquarius getting under Y4 activates his flipping arm and Y4 is shot into the air...to land on the arena camera track!
CEASE!
Y4 is now TER-MIN-8-ED AQUARIUS ADVANCES TO THE HEAT A FINAL!!

Axeon took part Jim Struts piece by piece, earning a well-deserved KO, and then went on to beat Knightrous Wedge via pitting, earning another KO and a huge upset.
Aquarius beat Kali in a tight judges decision with damage being the main factor, and then tossed Y4 over the fence to earn his way into this heat final.
Roboteers, stand by...
Teh house robots are Shunt and Sgt. Bash.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!!
Off we go! Axeon has slammed into Aquarius and brought down the hammer already! Oops, my bad, it's an axe. Anyway, a very tiny hole has been made in the 12mm titanium, but nothing else seems to have been done. And now Aquarius has gotten under Axeon - WHOA-HO! Aquarius activates the flipper, and Axeon is sent flying across the arena, landing on his back! Aquarius follows Axeon and gets under the hacker again, tossing him several feet, and finally into the wall. But AJ won't let this fight go to the dogs as Axeon rights itself; Aquarius hits Axeon's wedge and goes sailing over! Axeon fires the axe, just as Aquarius is almost right over him, and the point catches the underside; Aquarius rotates forward and hits the ground wedge-first! However, it does not affect the shape: Aquarius being made of strong material. Axeon goes in for another attack, and again finds himself flying through the air, to land on his back again, but fires the axe and rights himself...to find himself on the flipper of Aquarius and again gets launched! Axeon lands right-side-up and prepares for a counter-attack...AND AGAIN GETS FLIPPED! AJ's face is now a shade of red darker than the Canadian flag. Axeon has had enough abuse and decides to take action; he dodges another charge from Aquarius and slams the axe down, right into the slot below the flipper, which has not been lowered yet! Somehow, things have turned the other, nastier, and crueller way as Axeon drags Aquarius around the arena and straight into Sgt. Bash's CPZ. The military sergeant bot grapples Aquarius in his claw, and scrunches down, but that 12mm titanium is proving resilient! Suddenly, Axeon is shoved into Aquarius as Shunt flies in and sticks his own axe into Axeon's top. Aquarius is released from both Bash and Axeon, gets to Bash's side, and FLIP! The sergeant be-eth inverted! Shunt, however, has managed to put Axeon against the wall on his side, and is hacking away with his own axe, yet the blows aren't doing that much damage. Tony seems to think that he should get all the glory and not Shunt, and so Aquarius backs into Shunt, buffetting him out of the way to get at Axeon. Axeon uses the axe to push himself...onto Aquarius' wedge. TOSS! Bye bye, Axeon, you've just landed yourself a one-way ticket OOTA! Shunt is in a fury and flips over Aquarius with his scoop, hammering the 12mm titanium wedge and not doing a damn thing to it. Aquarius slips to Shunt's side, and tosses the other HB over. Then he carries Shunt over to the wall, and FLIP! Shunt lands right on top of Axeon. Bad luck, Andy!
CEASE!
Axeon doesn't have the axe effect. AQUARIUS MOVES ON TO THE SERIES SEMI-FINALS!!!
