KillobiteWeight Class: Heavyweight Shape: Wedge/clampbot Colour: Gray Armour: 6061 aircraft aluminum, harder than diamonds Speed: 10mph Weight: 100kg Dimensions: Length = 119cm, Width = 134cm, Height = 75cm Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 10cm at sides, 5mm at back Turning Circle: 0 Power: 2 C40-300 Magmotors, with 3.8 horsepower and run at 36V for more power Wheels: 4 wheel drive Weapons: Crusher that gives 6 tons of force, and front lifting forks to trap opponents, and the best part, the side spikes. The side spikes are 10cm ground clearance, and if a wedged flipper tries to flip it on the side, it will land on the other side spikes and bounce back onto its wheels. Srimech: None Strengths: Impossible to flip from front and sides, hard to get at rear, destructive weaponry. Weakness: Inability to self-right. BIO: Killobite was my third ever vapourbot, and it was simply Razer with side spikes to prevent getting flipped. Despite that, it was easy to flip... Killobite RechargedWeight Class: Heavyweight Shape: Wedge/clampbot Colour: Look at the picture Armour: 6mm 7075 aircraft aluminum vanadium alloy Speed: 10mph Weight: 100kg Dimensions: Length = 86cm, Width = 68cm, Height = 73cm Ground Clearance: 4mm at the sides, and 6mm at the back. Turning Circle: 1m Power: 2 C40-300 Magmotors, with 3.8 horsepower and run at 36V for more power Batteries: 4 NiCads Speed Controller: VANTEC RDFR series Wheels: 3 wheel drive Weapons: Crusher that gives 2 tons of force, thanks to a built-in hydraulic system, and front lifting forks to trap opponent (not pictured). The side spikes and the rear skirt are there to completely deny any flippers a chance of getting under it. Srimech: This time around, Killobite can right itself, but it takes about 5 seconds to do so. Strengths: Slim to none chance of flipping it, destructive, very tough armour. Weakness: Has turning circle, slow srimech. BIO: Basically the first incarnation with skirts, and a srimech. Didn't really compete. Name: Killobite Rebooted Shape: Invertible box with hardox skirts at sides and rear. Weight: roughly 110kg. Colour: Black with green fractal symbols. (I like The Matrix ) Drive: 2 LEM130s @ 36v. Gearing is 6:1 Speed: 15mph Treads: Vulkalon-rubber treads that come up through the robot to make it invertible. Batteries: 4 x 36v NiMH, capacity = 3000mAh Armour: The sides are 6mm Ti/V alloy, and the top and base are 15mm polycarbonate Ground Clearance: 0mm with the skirts, 4mm without. At the front it's 0mm with the jaws open, 5mm with them not completely open. Dimensions in CM: 85 x 70 x 40 Weaponry: A Complete Control-style lifting clamp, but it's a little different. The jaws are, like Complete Control, not to damage the opponent...but the way it clamps is through a hydraulic system that opens and closes the jaws. Once it has the opponent, a linear actuator-powered lifting mechanism lifts the opponent 90 degrees into the air, and Killobite can take the opponent where he wants. The jaws work both ways up, but the lifting motion only works right side up. A hardox plate behind the jaws helps against horizontal spinners. Srimech: Invertible Strengths: Versatile, can take a serious pounding and still come out alive. Weaknesses: Treads vulnerable to axes, only REALLY effective right side up. BIO: Morphed into a boxed shape with skirts and two clampers. Didn't compete. CortezShape: The boxy shape and side and rear skirts have been scrapped for a trapezoidal front, and plow-like sides and rear. Lower as well. Weight: 100kg. Colour: Brick-red. Drive: The LEM130s are back with a vengeance. Speed: 19mph Mobility: The treads have been scrapped for 4 Vulkalon wheels for more speed but less traction. However Cortez is no longer invertible. Batteries: 4 NiMH battery packs @ 36v Armour: 5mm hardox 650 is now on Cortez. Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, 2mm elsewheres. Dimensions in CM: 105 x 85 x 37 Weapon: The clamp remains, still hydraulically powered. The upper part is a piercing beak, also hydraulically powered, and wider than Razer's. Also, only the upper part can lower down on an opponent. However, the lifting mechanism is still there, and it can still toss 400kg and flip 750kg. Srimech: The clamper lifts to right him. Strengths: Speed, versatility, hard to flip. Weaknesses: Takes a little long to self-right. BIO: Scrapped the name for the pirate king's own...but it sucked. Scrapped for a new heavyweight. Killobite 5.0Shape: See the render. Colour: See the render. Speed: 14mph Weight: 100kg Drive: 2 x S28-400 MagMotors, 24v Power: 4 NiCad Battlepacks, 24v. Motivation: 4 aluminium hubs with foam-filled tires wrapped around them. The tires in turn have extra Vulkalon rubber for supreme grip. Chassis: 5mm steel bar chassis, see render, built outside the main armour, to take lots of lots of punishment from spinners. Armour: 5mm 6063 aluminium/magnesium alloy. Still light and sturdy, but not the best armour by a long shot. Ground Clearance: The front is 0mm under the forks, and also at the rear srimech. Other than that, it's 5mm. Turning Circle: 0 Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 130 x 80 x 40 Weaponry: The main weapon is the hydraulic titanium crushing beak, 3000psi operated, and given a hardox coating around the tip for maximum, ahem, piercibility. It has an estimated 4.5 tonnes of force at the tip, and about 9 tonnes at the support, meaning it can pierce thick-ish (7mm) titanium, and maybe even thin hardox. It is strong enough to pull a Razer and even lift an opponent off the ground. The other weapon is a joint weapon: the lifting forks and srimech, also titanium. Both are electronically powered, and can lift over 150kg without breaking down, though a relatively weaker mechanism. Also, both the forks and srimech can be turned on and off seperately by joint controls connecting the two, and are activated via the controller. If I want to disable the forks while using the srimech, presto. ;D The forks are nice and jagged to prevent opponents from trying to slide back off in reverse, so good luck with that. Using the forks in conjunction with the crushing beak means I can sink the beak into an opponent and then lift them at the same time with the forks. Unfortunately, while lifting with the forks, Killobite cannot use the beak effectively, and I will not allow it to do so. Basically the main tactic is to sink into their armour, grab them, lift them, and put them in a place they won't get out of. ;D Srimech: The rear bar, powered by the same electronics the lifting forks are powered by. It acts like a front-hinged flipper, and can right Killobite in about 1.2 seconds. Strengths: Weapon synergy very effective, extremely damaging weapon, excellent chassis/armour combination, awesome manoeuvrability, good speed, and good pushing power. Weaknesses: A spike rammer may get past the chassis and strike the armour, can get flipped easily due to lack of skirts. BIO: The Killobite name returned, as did a much better mechanism: the forks and crusher combined, from Killobite Recharged. ;D After a time, it got even better, but even after that, I felt it was time for a slight shape change... Killobite HexShape: Front wedge, and sloped sides meeting to a rear wedge with a small-edge front. Colour: Red chassis, grey-ish armouring, golden beak and forks. Weight: 100kg. Drive: 2 S28-400 MagMotors run at 23.1 volts. Power: 7 M1 A123 Li-Ion battery packs. Motivation: 2WD; 10cm high aluminium hubs with polyurethane rubber for grip. The wheels are cambered at 60 degrees off the floor for much better manoeuvrability. Top Speed: 14mph Chassis: 5mm steel, constructed on the exterior of the bot. Armour: Between the chassis are plates of 5mm Grade 5 titanium, and the underbellying plate is 6mm Grade 5 titanium. Ground Clearance: 0 at the front and rear, and 10mm at the sides. Turning Circle: One that occurs when you subtract a number by itself. Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 109 x 87 x 28 (the height is 45cm when beak is raised) Weapons: The main weapon is the large titanium crushing beak, tipped with tungsten, powered by another S28-400 Magmotor @ 36 volts and driven off a Vivoil pump at 3000psi, with a force of 7 tonnes at the tip and 15 tonnes at the rear ram. In addition to this, there are lifting forks which run off a lightweight linear acutator system, can lift about 750kg and actuate in about 1.1 seconds, easily capable of independent flippage. They are 30cm long and crafted of Hardox, and are barbed on the edges so they can poke into wheel holes or puncture them. The purpose, as with the last generation, is to grab an opponent, damage them with the crusher, and drag to a hazard such as the flame pit, or lift them, and put them into the pit, or some other place nasty. Unfortunately, the beak will not crush properly when the forks are raised, so the beak is disabled when I lift an opponent. Srimech: Similar to Razer and Arnold Terminegger; when the crusher raises, a pair of titanium wings pop out, connected to cables which spread out the wings in a second and a half. Due to the shape of Killobite Hex, it is impossible to rest it on its back. Strengths: Weapons synergy extremely powerful and versatile. Excellent manoeuvrability. BIO: I wanted something that wouldn't provide a great area of attack elsewhere than the front, thus...something. Aww whatever, it has a big rear end so it's been redesigned. Killobite SigmaShape: Please look at the render, lol. It's a pentagon wedge of sorts, with the rear panels angled ever so slightly with the front sloping down about 27 o. Colour: Pic is self-explanatory, lol Weight: 100kg Drive: 2 S28-400s, run at 24v, and geared 4.5:1. Power: 4 NiCad Battlepacks Motivation: 4WD, similar to Razer. Urethane rubber for tires, CNC hubs for wheels. Speed: 12mph; 18mph max. Armour: 6mm Ti/V monocoque, with 3.2mm Hardox bars surrounding it. Ground Clearance: The forks run along the ground, and can press into the ground via the lifter powering it, so absolute zero at the front, probably less than that. 20mm at the sides and rear, so it can try to drive away if wedged slightly. Skirts are overrated. Turning Circle: 0 Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 110 x 75 x 50 (with claw; 20cm height without the claw) Weaponry: The hardened steel crushing arm from Killobites 5.0 and Hex returns, and it is much much larger than either of those two incarnations. It's powered by a Vivoil pump, a LEM130 run on 48v, and appropriate NiCad batteries. It should put out approximately 25 tonnes at the ram, and 15 at the tip, making it very dangerous weapon to get caught by. It should at the very least dent moderate Hardox armour, and absolutely decimate any less armour it comes into contact with. The second weapons are the lifting forks at the front. They're powered by a lightweight linear actuating system and can lift about 250kg. They run flush with the ground and can lift 90 degrees in both directions, meaning they can press into the ground and negate any hinged/sprung/solid wedge attempts and get under them instantly, while the crusher comes into play. A deadly weapons synergy to fight. Srimech: A S28-150 activates a bungee-cord mechanism, which in turn activates the two 'wings' on the sides of the claw. It may be Razer-esque, but it's proven to work. Plus the angle of Killobite Sigma at the rear is such that it can't fall onto those sides and remain there; it'll get forced into a position where it can self-right. BIO: A deadly new version of Killobite, and the most lethal yet. Sigma was just a cool end-name to put at the end of it. Undefeated so far in FRA.
