Playoff Glasgow Kiss vs. Mobile Failure
Roboteers, stand by…
3… 2… 1… ACTIVATE!
So it’s definitely an axe meeting of sorts, and the two semi-final losers are at it immediately, fighting for that good ol’ wooden spoon. ;D But Glasgow Kiss is the first to strike, its racecar -inspired shape sliding under Mobile Failure’s big wedge as its axe comes down, but only hitting the ‘airy’ area inside of Glasgow Kiss, as the racecarbot takes Mobile Failure to the wall and slams it against the wall as it did with Flipping Hell last round, Scott humming to some sort of Franz Ferdinand tune. Tracy tries to turn her machine around quickly, but Glasgow Kiss has actually sped away, possibly going for a ram. Mobile Failure decides to meet him head-on…not a good idea, as Glasgow Kiss sweeps under Mobile Failure and actually passes under it, the shape of the middle wedge helping as the Failure goes flying over it. Glasgow Kiss turns around, Mobile Failure trying to do the like, and slams into the side of its opponent, burying the axe into Mobile Failure’s top armour with a heavy WHACK! The 6mm titanium gets dented quite a bit, but holds up relatively fine. Tracy responds to Scott by actually turning Mobile Failure into Glasgow Kiss’ side and retaliating with an axe blow of its own, and manages to smack Glasgow Kiss’ armour around its own axe, and unlike the blow it got, the blow it dealt is much more severe! Apparently the 1mm difference of titanium proves its point, or maybe the power of the axes, but there’s a hole that has been punched straight through the 5mm Ti, and Scott’s melodic humming of ‘Auf Achse’ comes to an abrupt end as he struggles to get his machine away, to no avail.
The tide turned, Tracy takes Scott all the way to the other end of the arena and gives him a taste of his own medicine, Mobile Failure showing brute strength by pounding Glasgow Kiss against the wall; this does loosen the axe, but Glasgow Kiss is now up against the wall instead of having bounced off, and Mobile Failure smacks the side with its axe…shaft. ;D That was kinda useless. Glasgow Kiss fires its own axe to try and get itself off the wall, but it seems to still be stuck on its side, as it retracts its axe. Mobile Failure waits out of axe range; Scott again tries to get his machine off its side, this time succeeding, only to find the newcomer blaring into its side already, and the axe comes down again, making another hole in the titanium! As suddenly as the hole came to be in Glasgow Kiss’ armour, Tracy remembers the pit, and goes to open it, but it seems Glasgow Kiss has found its footing again because it suddenly begins to pull Mobile Failure around the arena, with the axe still lodged in its amour! However, Mobile Failure’s LEM-power kicks in and begins to pull backwards, and in the middle of the pushing and pulling they go right over the arena saws. BZZT! Spark-y. That seems to have loosened the hold on Glasgow Kiss as Mobile Failure backs off, but in turn Glasgow Kiss seems to be moving awkwardly…I think the arena saws have done some damage to them tires! Or at least one anyway. ;D Scott sees all too clearly what’s happened; it’s the front left wheel that’s taken the damage, as a great big slice has been made in it, so Glasgow Kiss’ control has now been greatly reduced.
Tracy comes in again, Mobile Failure’s axe swinging into the front, and Glasgow Kiss does the like. WHACK WHACK go the axes in harmony, and this time both axes seem to have made holes in the other’s armour…but it’s Glasgow Kiss who, despite the control problem, once again manages to sneak its own wedge under Mobile Failure’s, and having lifted its opponent’s wheels off the ground, takes it into a CPZ, knocking the bejesus out of it. Scott’s machine indeed does seem to take a lickin’ and keep on kickin’, as it tries to stack the Failure against the wall on its butt-end. WA-HEY! Mobile Failure fired its axe against the wall, and in a stupendous gymnastics display, sent itself flying away from the wall and overtop of Glasgow Kiss in a perfect 270, landing neatly behind it! Cool. Glasgow Kiss’ turning ability seems to have been hindered as well, as Tracy is the one set to turn right around to face its opponent first, and does so…and display another newcomer trait by turning around too much. ;D As she finally gets around to get the wedge pointed at Glasgow Kiss, Scott has his machine’s front wedge back in action and back in Mobile Failure’s face, and Tracy just can’t seem to get any sort of leverage advantage against Scott, as Glasgow Kiss again gets under Mobile Failure and takes it across the arena on an angle, and just has enough force to slam it against the wall, just near the pit release button. That ram has inverted Mobile Failure, also, but it self-rights quickly, only for Glasgow Kiss to ram into it once more, and this time the axe comes down, onto Mobile Failure’s top armour again, only denting it though, so it doesn’t get a good enough hold…but Glasgow Kiss again takes what little control is left and slams Mobile Failure into another wall again, the newcomer surely reeling from these hits.
However, it seems Glasgow Kiss is the real one reeling, the front left wheel does not seeming to be turning at all anymore, and especially that last punishing blow he gave, seems to have exerted rather much of his remaining effort, as Mobile Failure comes in again after a moment’s pause. Glasgow Kiss moves in again as well, and though again successfully managing to slide under Mobile Failure, it isn’t moving that much fast as it was before, and both axes come down…more holes in the armour, though Glasgow Kiss’ armour looks the more worse for wear, but that last axeblow shook Mobile Failure off the wedge, and allows it to get away. Scott’s in a stew of trouble now, he definitely doesn’t have the ‘zoom-zoom’ he had at the start of the match ;D , and Mobile Failure although receiving the worst of the hits so far has kept itself alive and running well, as it now circles Glasgow Kiss. Scott can’t turn his machine fast enough anymore and Mobile Failure gets at the side, wedging it and smacking the armour again with its axe, carving a hole in the other side of the armour this time. Now with a firm hold, Mobile Failure backs up across the arena, stops to angle itself right, and reverses into the pit release button, sending that platform descending into the abyss we all know and hate. And Scott finally pulls out the white flag as Glasgow Kiss is hurtled across the arena by its captor and sent down into the void…with its opponent on top of it. ;D
CEASE!
The veteran kisses Ground Zero! Glasgow Kiss misses out on the Wooden Spoon and settles for 4th! Mobile Failure gets 3rd place!

Flipping Hell - the journey - Got thrown around the arena in Round 1 by Taki III, house robot winner of last tournament, but Flipping Hell needed only one toss to win, and he finally got it. Taki III sailed over the fence and Flipping Hell advanced. - During the 2nd round fight, Flipping Hell tossed Asterix across the arena, flung Triple Whamlet out of it, and ultimately humiliated Ancalagon the Black by combining its flipping power with its fellow finalist Stiltskin to heave the dragonbot onto its back. - Almost a repeat of Round 1, Round 3 saw Glasgow Kiss smack Flipping Hell around a few times, but again one toss was needed, and the Weston bot prevailed. Stiltskin - the journey - Pretty much had its way with Renegade in Round 1, despite a few bashings to the polycarb armour finally got Renegade over the fence after a multitude of flips. - The 2nd round saw Stiltskin give Triple Whamlet a flipping, and helped fellow finalist Flipping Hell give the dragonbot Ancalagon the Black a tummy tickle using their combined flipping power. - Round 3 with Mobile Failure saw Stiltskin utterly vanquish the newbie, a few flippings and finally Tracy’s axebot exited the arena. Flipping Hell vs. Stiltskin This, for gold. Loser gets silver, and the robots are in their starting positions... Roboteers, stand by...
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!!And the final is underway! ;D Both machines are right out of their spots, Flipping Hell immediately breaking away from a head-on collision to get at the rear of Stiltskin. Unfortunately, though Stiltskin’s tracks make it less manoeuvrable, it’s still pretty quick at turning, and is able to keep Flipping Hell in check, thus David cannot get at the spot he wants. This means that, not wanting a stalemate, Stiltskin charges suddenly at Flipping Hell, but only succeeds in getting under the tail and thus Joey does not press the flipper button. Stiltskin does however chase down Flipping Hell, and unfortunately Flipping Hell cannot turn in time! Stiltskin slides under and a with an almighty toss sends Flipping Hell skybound, the 4-bar flipper hurtled into the air as it crashes down inverted! Stiltskin wastes abolutely no time; it slides under Flipping Hell again and goes for the quick tournament win! It tosses...a bit short! For Flipping Hell had activated its own flipper and sent it in a different trajectory along with Stiltskin’s own flip. This means David sees his bot fly into the wall, along the wall at a high speed, bouncing off the top of one of the Discs of Death, thankfully without getting hit by it, and come to a halt back onto its wheels! Joey curses his luck, but he’s gotta react quickly because Flipping Hell is coming after him again! Stiltskin breaks away from the charge and is on the fly, with Flipping Hell now being the pursuer, as Joey spins around quickly, but just like Flipping Hell before him, he’s unable to turn quickly enough to get his own front in, and Flipping Hell ramming into the sdie, collects him on the front wedge. However, Stiltskin easily drives off the wedge using the tracks; David had seen this, and so does not activate the gigantic flipper. He knows that one or two shots is all he needs, and wasting one there would have been a pity. Stiltskin spins around, however, and puts pressure on Dave once more, again getting at Flipping Hell’s own side and tossing it over! Dave again decides to wait again, and conserve energy...and here’s Stiltskin, approaching the arena wall again! AHA! Clever ploy by David Weston there, and poor Joey is robbed...in fact he’s in some trouble! Flipping Hell launched itself off the flipper of Stiltskin as Stiltskin approached the wall, sending the tracked machine into the arena wall where it flicked itself up...and is now stuck on the arena wall! It’s actually perched on the wheelie bar, but the bar isn’t helping it get off the wall! Flipping Hell self-rights fully now, as Joey fires the flipper, and now that frees him from his peril: an approaching Flipping Hell! Joey backs all the way away, stopping in an arc and pulling sideways in front of Flipping Hell, before driving oout of danger, along the wall, passing the flame pit with Dave in pursuit, and turning around outside the CPZ there, as now both wedges meet for the first time! Who has the greater leverage? Why, it’s Stiltskin! Dave is shocked, as his machine hurtles onto the wedge of Stiltskin, but Joey is not taking him to the wall this time...wait, yes he is, but it’s into the pit release button - AND FLIPPING HIM!? But amazingly, Flipping Hell was so far up the wedge, that as Stiltskin launches him, Dave’s machine goes into a terminal trajectory, straight up...and straight back down! Back onto the upraised flipper, before Joey can lower it! That hadda hurt. I wonder if the ram was damaged, but we’ll have to wait and see...and I guess we have our answer now, as Joey tosses his foe to the side this time, and Dave’s bot again goes onto its back. Now Dave immediately self-rights; he’s not fond of that opened pit and even less fond of Stiltskin box-rushing the enormous flipper! Wa-hey! That’s a tactic! Flipping Hell turned around, and smacked its tail around Stiltskin’s flipper into the polycarb side! Stiltskin furiously tries to bury the flipper under, but that’s pretty hard as Flipping Hell’s actual tail has breached Stiltskin’s sides, without getting right under the tracks, so that Stiltskin’s beached! Quickly Flipping Hell reverses to push Stiltskin into the nearby CPZ, but the tail finally hits the tracks of Stiltskin, allowing Joey to - drive straight into the wall? Dave’s a smart tactician; he’s pushed Stiltskin right up close to the wall, and that’s forced Stiltskin to turn straight into the wall, and back up onto the tail! And it’s now cornered in the CPZ...but now Dave’s in a tricky spot. He has to turn to bring his own flipper into play, but that will free Stiltskin. And he can only hold onto Stiltskin for 30 seconds...Dave quickly turns counter-clockwise, but as soon as Stiltskin’s tracks meet the floor, Joey’s off...and under Flipping Hell! Dave tries to drive off, but Joey tosses him immediately...right into the Disc of Death! CRASH!!! Flipping Hell takes the shot right in the side, and is sent spinning away, the side taking a small dent however, as the machine self-rights quickly, but Stiltskin is again after blood, and is smelling it on his opponent as he rams into Flipping Hell’s side; this time however Flipping Hell gets away and Stiltskin ends up flipping air, but luckily doesn’t go over. It has however given Dave enough time to turn his machine around to confront another ram from Stiltskin, but again Stiltskin comes out the lower of the two and immediately tosses his opponent onto his back yet again. Joey waves aside the arena wall this time and turns Flipping Hell towards the pit...only for Flipping Hell to self...right? That took a bit long...is Flipping Hell running out of power for its flipper? We don’t know for sure, but Stiltskin’s flipped it back over again...and this time, before Dave can self-right, the tracked machine has shoved it across the arena, and into the pit for the tournament win!!! Joey prances about like a mad thing as Dave shrugs and waves at the crowd; Stiltskin spins around in a victory dance, firing its flipper in sheer delight, and then goes after The Watcher, finally tossing him over, before resuming its spinning, having just made itself the Robot Rebellion 3 champ!!! CEASE! Flipping Hell gave his opponents a hell of a time, but in the end, it was ashes to ashes, and dust to dust. ;D STILTSKIN WINS THE ROBOT REBELLION 3!!! ---- And thus ends another display of house robot bashing, competitor bashing, and refbot mind-breaking. ;D Before we say adieu, let’s have a look at the standings: Podium Finish Bronze = Mobile Failure (Tracy Farber) Silver = Flipping Hell (David Weston) Gold = Stiltskin (Joey McConnell)
