Round 1 Battle 1 ArchAngel of the Abyss (10) vs. ForcePower 5.0 vs. Flank Attack: DT
Representing Alex Holt and Team DoomForAll: our 10th seed, ArchAngel of the Abyss! It’s an extremely deadly full-body-spinning walker with two separate spinning rings, the lower one doing the more damage with longer blades. It also has quite decent armour, but it can be shoved around despite the weight advantage. It isn’t invertible either, and while it can self-right, it takes long to do so and can be attacked in that instance. C&BT1: Destroyed Heart of Fire, and although being shoved into the pit Starstorm 2, had flipped him over and Frank’s bot was counted out before being put on the floor flipper...but then Clawdius Decimus Murderous, the 2nd seed, dumped Alex’s FBSW down the pit in the Heat D Final.
Representing Alex MacWilliams and Team Targeted: Flank Attack: Divisionary Tactics! VERY tough, with 12mm titanium for the main body and 15mm titanium for the claws, which are coated in rubber to absorb hits. It’s got a hugely powerful pair of jaws too, ala Tough As Nails, to carry opponents around. No motors are described in the stats, but with a speed of 21mph they must be pretty powerful... but it doesn’t grip onto wedges that well, and claws are slow to close... C&BT1: Did not enter.
Representing Andrew Jackson and Team ? ? ?: ForcePower 5.0! This bad machine is hella powerful, with 2 LEM200s and 250 C-Cell Nicad batteries, all @ 60v giving it over 100hp!!! It also has 6mm hardox monocoque, and a front wedge to ram opponents whether inverted or not, as both the wedge and forcePower are invertible, and it has an angled rear for stopping strandings. It seems like it is over the weight limit, though...but I could be wrong. C&BT1: Lost out to Tempest Evil-er-oution in Heat G’s first round.

Booth 1: ArchAngel of the Abyss, ForcePower 5.0 Booth 2: Flank Attack: DT
In this corner we have the green feathery decorative covering and destructive spinning ring of Tira-san, who will be ousted from the house bot ranks after this tournament. Exa-Gore-Ic: AI makes his 400kg dual-claw presence known as well, in the opposite corner.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
AJ smirks as his ForcePower backs away, allowing ArchAngel and Flank Attack some room to tango. Flank Attack flies full bore at the 10th seed, only to find the ring and upper shell of ArchAngel already up to full speed! Regardless he bolts in anyway to cause some sort of mischief. CRASH!!! Ooh, dastardly hit, directly on the plow, and it has a nice gash through it, but Flank Attack has withstood the blow, containing ArchAngel in the pincers that are now closing the spinner in, and is pushing ArchAngel away! The jaws fully close, and ArchAngel cannot move! However due to the armour of ArchAngel, Flank Attack is only able to damage him to a minimal extent, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s caught! Now that AJ sees a trapped opponent, it’s ForcePower time! In comes the rammer, slamming straight into ArchAngel and nearly blasting it out of the grip of the horizontal crusher, but Alex MacWilliams’ bot has the bumper spinner in its powerful jaws and isn’t letting go for the world! Alex Holt works his controls, trying to throw Flank Attack off but no good. ForcePower decides to take the easy way out and reverses into the pit release button, opening the pit for the umpteenth time this tournament...and Flank Attack gets the message, heading straight over to the opened hole. ArchAngel really doesn’t want the match to end this way, but with a broad smile, Alex MacWilliams releases the grip of his bot’s jaws on ArchAngel...right over the hole. BOOM!

ArchAngel of the Abyss meets a disappointing end at the bottom of the pit. Flank Attack: DT and ForcePower 5.0 advance to Round 2!

Round 1 Battle 2 Turbulence vs. Hacked off Ha-ka vs. Megabyte
Representing Frank Goacher and Team Bored is a real robot: Turbulence! A Roaming Robots champion in all its glory, built by Ed Wallace and Dave Moulds, and it’s got quite the big, powerful flipper. Like most robots with flippers it can self-right when flipped, and its armour isn’t quite that bad, but it has limited flips, also like all other flippers. Also a hit to the pneumatics when the flipper is open could give Turbulence some...turbulence. C&BT1: Did not enter.
Representing Matthew Fowler and Team Devil’s Incarnate: Hacked off Ha-ka! Resilient to many spinners with its 5mm Aluminium Boron Carbide armour, and sporting a wedge each at the front and rear. It also has a nasty full pressure axe that can brutalize even 8mm titanium, but it’s limited. Each wedge has a thin strip of titanium on the bottom edge to slide under skirts easier, but it won’t win against Storm II in a pushing match, that’s for sure. C&BT1: Did not enter.
Representing Aaron Knight and Team Disctructive Technologies is a real robot: Megabyte! Scary powerful full-body spinner with blades to slice and dice and absolutely murdalize you with, ain’t that nice. It can even self-right, but it depends on the moment for how long it takes Megabyte to self-right ala Mauler-spin. And while its armour isn’t that bad either, when not spinning, it’s not going to survive long. C&BT1: Tore through Biohazard, but was fated to meet his demise at 12th seed Tails in Round 2 of Heat E, getting tossed over the fence.

Booth 1: Megabyte, Hacked off Ha-ka Booth 2: Turbulence
Double Big Mac and Double Whamlet enter the arena and their CPZ, respectively, with double the amount of hate for their eventual victims...
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Ha-ka is straight off the mark in this diverse battle of weapons, right at Turbulence, who is taking a different tack: heading straight for Megabyte! Megabyte is having a hard time finding its direction, and it pays off bad for them as Turbulence slides right into Megabyte’s direction of rotation, causing the spinner to spin itself onto the wedge of Turbulence, and fly right over it and even over Ha-ka! Ha-ka throws the axe, but just taps the underbelly of the spinner, nonetheless throwing it off-balance and into a crazy Mauler 5150 spin! Ha-ka hits the brakes and turns around, burying the wedge into the crazed spinner causing Megabyte to fall onto the wedge and WHACK! Ooh, heavy axe blow from the Fowler camp! Turbulence approaches Ha-ka from the rear and tries to get at the rear but ends up driving onto the titanium strip and in turn onto the rear wedge. Ha-ka ignores this and gives Megabyte another WHACK from the axe, this time impaling a hole into the shell of the spinner. Turbulence decides to change tack and has a go at Ha-ka’s sides, tossing it right over! Megabyte also topples, but back onto its wheels! Turbulence makes a beeling for the spinner, Megabyte however slightly dodging using its half-spun up shell to smack the edge of the side and send itself away, spinning again. Turbulence gives chase as Ha-ka vaults into the air using its axe to right itself, but Megabyte is now back up to speed despite the previous attack by Ha-ka, and decides to abandon all pretence, charging straight into the wedge of Turbulence...not a good idea! The blades of Megabyte catch the wedge dead center, with the same result: Megabyte soars right overtop of Turbulence and lands squarely in front of Ha-ka, who wastes no time in scooping the spinner onto the wedge and WHACKing it again. Another hole is made, still small, but noticeable. Turbulence spins around, not going to let Ha-ka have all the fun, and sees his quarry gangway for the pit release button, axe catching Megabyte and holding it on the wedge...no! Megabyte escapes, but ready to be scooped up by Turbulence, and finally: FLIP! The flipper of Turbulence comes into play and sends Megabyte flying through the air, landing right onto its back. Ha-ka backs into the pit release anyway, opening that hellish hole for yet another round, as Megabyte slowly begins to spin up upside-down. Turbulence is quite ready for this attempt and marrs it immediately by tackling Megabyte and sending it right into Double Whamlet’s CPZ! Whamlet’s hatred is given an outlet as the twin axes pounce upon the underbelly of Megabyte! WHACK! Turbulence backs off from the seen, only to bump into Ha-ka, who gives the wedge a WHACK from the back! OH! The flipper is caught! The Watcher trundles over and takes care to bump into Ha-ka as harshly as possible, before heading over to the CPZ, as Double Big Mac slowly wheels over there, hammers spinning wildly. Turbulence backs away, trying to force Ha-ka towards the wall opposite, wheels digging into the ground. Ha-ka shows an equal amount of determination, its own wheels providing torque, but not enough to break the deadlock. Megabyte, meanwhile, seems to be beaten, and the final confirmation is given, as The Watcher’s countdown begins! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10! Whamlet immediately shoots out of the CPZ, and pushes the defeated spinner down the pit. DBM spins down his hammers mournfully, and Ha-ka and Turbulence also become stationary, as the match is over.
CEASE!
Megabyte goes to the Recycle Bin. Turbulence and Hacked off Ha-ka advance to Round 2!

Round 2 Battle 1 Turbulence vs. ForcePower 5.0
Turbulence took out Megabyte, sending the spinner into a CPZ where Double Whamlet destroyed it.
ForcePower 5.0 enjoyed a “bye”, as 10th seed ArchAngel of the Abyss met his doom in the pit, courtesy of Flank Attack: DT.

Booth 1: ForcePower 5.0 Booth 2: Turbulence
Corner 1: Asterix Heroicus, 106kg, huge rammer. Corner 2: Obelix Bulguous, 225kg, huge hammer.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!
ForcePower is quicker off the mark and flies towards Turbulence, but the realie jolts slightly, aiming for the left front corner of ForcePower. Andy jams the brakes and tries to point ForcePower towards Turbulence, but overshoots it due to the poor control, exposing the right front corner. Turbulence flies in, slides ‘neath, and with an almighty FLIP, ForcePower finds itself working upside-down! This of course is no problem for the rammer, but Turbulence has just scored itself points, so ForcePower needs to get back in the game, but Turbulence isn’t giving him room to breathe, and before ForcePower can recover the Roaming Robots champion is under the same spot. FLIP! ForcePower is launched again, and goes over, this time right side up! ForcePower backs off to try and regroup, as Turbulence aggressively approaches the rambot. ForcePower hurtles towards the realie and they meet...and it’s ForcePower in control now! Turbulence is getting thrown back at shocking speeds, and WHAM! Right into the wall! Unfortunately, this bumps ForcePower right onto Turbulence’s wedge! And...FLIP! Turbulence responds accordingly with another savage flick of the flipper, sending ForcePower sprawling across the arena floor, again inverted. ForcePower turns, but way too fast, exposing the right side completely, as Turbulence goes for it...and gets it! FLIP! Successful skirt penetration means a 100% chance of flipperation, and that causes ForcePower to go flying through the air again, landing back on its belly and really agitated. Turbulence doesn’t seem to be letting up at all, and Andy seems to realize this because ForcePower is now backing away towards the pit release button...BANG. Pit opened – WHOA! Turbulence almost netted himself a ticket to the black hole of doom there! Backing away, he spies his adversary snaking around the pit and turning to face him...and has a go at ForcePower’s side. ForcePower turns slightly, and this time it is nicely timed: they are face-to-face, and ForcePower guns the motors again! Turbulence gives it the old college try and smacks into the front of ForcePower...right onto the wedge! And ForcePower’s delivering him TO...WHAM! The wall again! Devastating crash, as Turbulence bounces away, inverted! FLIP! Turbulence rights itself but it’s not over yet, as ForcePower attacks again with heightened ferocity! Turbulence backs off and ForcePower’s just made itself vulnerable, leaving its side open to assault! Again Frank takes advantage: FLIP! Over goes ForcePower yet AGAIN. ForcePower runs away, quite keen on setting up another attack, but Turbulence is at him again in no time! BANG. They collide head-on...and Turbulence penetrates the front wedge of ForcePower! FLIP! ForcePower goes onto its belly again, but Turbulence comes in again...and tries to push it? BAD IDEA! ForcePower backs into the flipper, whose weapon is wide open, and steers it towards the wall opposite! Being smushed into paste against the wall doesn’t sound quite appetizing, and so Frank spins Turbulence off the back of ForcePower, sending the rammer flying into the wall rear-first! WHAM! Turbulence flies in to seize the opportunity! FLIP! ForcePower topples onto its back for the fourth time this fight. ForcePower backs into Turbulence to try and catch the flipper ram again, but Turbulence spins away again, smacking the left side skirt with the flipper. ForcePower guns the motors again and veers down on Turbulence, who meets the charge again head-on, and it’s ForcePower who gets under this time, and actually toppling Turbulence on the wedge! Quickly ForcePower turns to the wall opposite, but it turns too harshly, sending Turb flying off the back and onto its own back. FLIP! Turbulence again self-rights, but a rather weak self-right at that, and it seems to be running out of flips. ForcePower hurriedly buries its wedge in, and catches Turbulence, who spins away, catches the right side skirt and slips under it. FLIP! Ooh, still some nice power in that flipper yet, as ForcePower goes back onto its belly. Turbulence shoves itself into ForcePower, the flipper lowered again, but does not flip. Instead, he starts pushing ForcePower towards the flame pit! ForcePower tries to reverse off the wedge, but the wheels are spinning...in mid-air! He’s going nowhere! FWOOM. A lick of flame and now ForcePower is on the flame pit, roasting. FLIP! Another toss by Turbulence and ForcePower finds itself inverted for about the fifth time this match, and Andy’s frustration grows. Turbulence heads for the left side skirt again but this time is unable to get under it and backs off, but ForcePower turns to him and gives him a weak push...is something wrong with its drivetrain?

Turbulence rams ForcePower’s front wedge; it’s another deadlock, and ForcePower is very slowly pushing Turbulence backwards.
6...5...4...
Turbulence gives a slight lift of the flipper, and it looks they’ve run out of flips; this does raise ForcePower up a little, but he comes crashing down again.
3...2...1...
ForcePower tackles Turbulence weakly, and mushes it into the arena wall. Oof.

Round 2 Battle 2 Flank Attack: DT vs. Hacked off Ha-ka
Flank Attack: DT shoved 10th seed ArchAngel of the Abyss into the hole, after sustaining a massive blow in the plow.
Hacked off Ha-ka caused some damage to Megabyte before Turbulence finished it off with a flick into Double Whamlet’s CPZ.

3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!
Flank Attack is quick off the mark, straight away from Ha-ka, mainly trying to avoid the axe as much as possible. Ha-ka goes for broke, charging straight into the right side claw, but Flank Attack spins around and turns Ha-ka off-course, the axe barely missing. WHACK. Nice hole in the arena floor, but you’re paying for it. Flank Attack’s got him in the jaws now, and bores forward, scooping him up in the plow, and squeezing in! Normally due to the wedges at the front and rear this would be quite ineffective, but since the side of Ha-ka is pinned under Flank Attack’s plow, it’s QUITE effective, and it is becoming apparent now as holes start to appear in Ha-ka’s Aluminium Boron Carbide armour! Flank Attack drives around, quite happy with his prize, and Ha-ka flings the axe down repeatedly in panic, but it’s no good! Evidently wishing to finish this battle off as quick as possible, Flank Attack reverses towards the pit release – OH! Look at this! Ha-ka has...somehow...snagged the floor flipper lining with the axe, and it’s stuck! Flank Attack pulls...and pulls...and pulls...and to the grief of Matty Fowler the axe is loose and Flank Attack backs all the way into the pit release button...which I’m sure you all know what it does by now. Alex also knows what to do now, and Matt is unable to prevent it: the dreaded pitting! Flank Attack stops just on the edge of the pit and opens the jaws...and any moment now, BOOM! Ha-ka is down the drain.

Hacked off Ha-ka gets caught up in the wreck of things. Flank Attack: DT advances to the Heat L Final!!

Heat L Final Turbulence vs. Flank Attack: DT
Turbulence tossed his way through the first round, disposing of Megabyte, and then ForcePower 5.0 in a judges decision.
Flank Attack: DT clawed out ArchAngel of the Abyss' chances of proceeding further than Round 1, and then shoved Hacked off Ha-ka down to its doom.
Roboteers, stand by...
House robot A: Green, huge spinning ring, lovely sparks. House robot B: Invertible wedge that drives really fast, rear cutting blade. Yep, Tira-san and Taki-san.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!!!
Flank Attack is the first to move, and is halfway across the arena already before Turbulence suddenly springs to life, and it certainly seems quite peppy because it's rammed into one of the claws and sent it up onto the wedge! FLIP! Flank Attack is tipped sideways and lands on its back, but fully functional. Flank Attack turns to attack and finds the realie back across the floor, preparing for another assault on the pincers. Alex isn't about to let the same thing happen again and turns to face Turbulence, who's speeding in again and crashes into the same claw. It's Alex time to shine though, as he carefully turns Flank Attack's claw-under-siege away from the wedge, and now rams Turbulence's left side! Frank drives forward to try and shake Flank Attack off, but it makes things worse as Alex steers his prey right into the wall! Pinned on the wall, Turbulence is now caught like a fly in a pitcher plant...or is he? Flank Attack is trying to close the claws in, but the right side claw is sliding over the wedge! Frank is delighted, and hits the flipper button. FLIP! Flank Attack goes for a ride, sailing backwards and landing away from Turbulence. The realie homes in on Flank Attack quickly and attacks the rear! Flank Attack scooped up and trapped on the wedge! He's carried to the wall aaaaand...too early. Turbulence tossed Flank Attack about a second before he hit the wall, and Flank Attack bounces off the railing with both pincers, and landing back on its wheels. Frank claps his hand to his head, but Alex is quite relieved and goes for an attack on Turbulence again, to find that the wedge has backed off and roaming around the arena. The 5th seed of Mechanical Noise 1 is once again after him, and closing in quite quickly, but Turbulence spins around before the inevitable contact. BANG! The wedge meets the scoop, and they cancel out...and the pincers close in! Turbulence's side panels are feeling the hurt now, and this is quite bad, for in the last two battles, no opponent has escaped the pincers when they have captured an opponent! Oh, but what's this? Turbulence is trying to push Flank Attack away! Flank Attack pushes back, and the pincers' spikes plunge deeper into the sides of the realie...and Turbulence suddenly stops moving! Uh oh, something important must have been damaged...and it looks like Turbulence has had it. Flank Attack now pushes him back, right straight towards the floor flipper. The claws open...no movement. Turbulence is a dead duck. The Watcher comes on over, and Taki and Tira leave their CPZs, as the countdown commences! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10! FLIP! Turbulence soars, the floor flipper sending it across the arena in a hurry, and landing on its back skids across the floor, but Flank Attack is right there, and it catches Turbulence wide open, the claws ink in again. The house robots give chase, and Flank Attack backs into the pit release button. Guess what happens now. Taki slams into Turbulence's front end, now inverted, and shooting under both bots lifts them into the air, and on top of her, and spins around while the crowd hollers their approval. A few twirls and Flank Attack lands away from Taki, and has his prey right in front of the other one: Tira! CRASH!!! OH! Mighty hit, directly on Turbulence's flipper! This sends both competitors across the floor amid a shower of green and purple sparks, but Turbulence has a pretty strong flipper and it takes the hit quite well, despite being dead! Alex has had enough of this charade and wheels Flank Attack over to the pit: sure enough, the pincers open right over the hole and Turbulence is plunged in. Taki sneakily comes in from behind and puts Flank Attack on top of him.

Turbulence has a long way to the top before he can rock n roll. Flank Attack: DT advances to the Series Semi-Finals!!!
