Name: Wedginator Shape: Wedge Weight: 100kg Colour: Green with evil face on front. Weapons: Front pneumatic flipper and rear discs with diamond-tipped teeth. Armour: 5mm titanium Motors: S28-400 Magmotors Wheels: 2 go-kart wheels. Srimech: Flipper BIO: So began my journey into vapourbotics. This is the first ever Wedginator, unexperienced and overweight. This was also my first official attempt at a vapourbot because the first attempt called Ultra Gore was scrapped. The pic that came with it is now long gone, but I have done a new CAD for anyone who wishes to know what it looked like. Name: Wedginator Revolution Shape: Spawn Again Colour: Crocodile texture. Speed: 23mph Weight: 100kg Armour: 7mm 7075 aircraft aluminum Motors: C40-500 Magmotors Batteries: NiCad cells. Wheels: 2 inner go-kart wheels, foam-filled. Weapon: A pneumatic rear-hinged flipper that can flip 2000kg. Dimensions: L = 105cm, W = 65cm, H = 45cm Srimech: Flipper Strengths: Fast, powerful, good armour. Weaknesses: No damaging weaponry. BIO: Wedginator's first major redesign. The wheels were no longer exposed, and Wedginator grew larger, though it was hard to self-right. This version won 3rd place in the hypothetical Fowler Fic War 1, but sadly it didn't get too far after that... Wedginator rEVILutionWeight Class: Heavyweight Shape: A Spawn Again style wedge with a steep wedged back. Colour: Deadly Green, with a mouth on the flipper and evil eyes surrounding it. Name engraved on the back. Armour: 7mm Grade 5 titanium, covered by 3mm Lexan. The bottom is 5mm 6061 aircraft aluminum Speed: 15mph Weight: 99.8kg Dimensions: Length = 85cm, Width = 75cm, Height = 65cm Ground Clearance: 0mm at front, with a hidden wedge also. The sides are covered by skirts, and the back is 4mm. Turning Circle: 0 Power: 2 C40-300 Magmotors, with 3.8 horsepower and run at 36V for more power Batteries: 4 NiCads Speed Controllers: VANTEC RDFR speed controller Wheels: 2 go-kart tires tilted at 60 degree angles for better turning ability Weapon: Top-hinged flipper that has a lifting force of 1000 lbs. It's powered by a CO2 tank. The flipper goes up the whole wedge. Also, there are two 5cm long hardened steel spikes, 2cm thick. If the flipper stops, then I can ram the opponent into oblivion. Srimech: Flipper, but it might put itself on its back again Strengths: Fast, good weaponry. Weaknesses: Limited CO2 capacity, can get its spikes impaled on side walls. BIO: I called it a next generation Wedginator because I wanted the EVIL part of the name in, but it wasn't really a redesign, just a sort of freshening. This time he got side skirts to fend off attacks from the side. I also downgraded the weapon power for more armour and speed...which didn't really help seeing as it never competed. ;D Battle Record = N/A Time of Activity = 2004 - 2005 Notable Achievements = None

Name: Wedginator Reborn Shape: Very low wedge with sloping sides, plus side and rear skirts. Weight: 99kg Colour: Crocodilian-style texture. Drive: 2 S28-400 Magmotors @ 36v, gearing is at 9:1 Speed: 20mph Wheels: 2 foam-filled go-kart tires. These poke up through the robot to make it invertible. Batteries: 4 x 36v NiMH, capacity = 3600mAh Armour: The flipper, sides, and rear are 5mm hardox 650, whilst and underbelly is 6mm G5 Ti. Added to the flipper is a 5mm Lexan covering in case of spinning weapons. Ground Clearance: 0mm with the skirts on, 5mm without. At the front it's 0mm. Dimensions in CM: 95 x 75 x 20 Weaponry: A rear-hinged flipper powered by two 2kg Nitrogen tanks, each used separately. Should lift well over 500kg. Srimech: Invertible, but can flip itself over anyway. Strengths: Fast, hard to get under (and flip), and powerful weapon. Weaknesses: No damaging weaponry. BIO: This was another redesign, just after my return to FRA. At this point I had begun to get technical with my stats. I had also begun to start using programs to make graphical drawings of my vapourbots, of which Alexander MacWilliams deserves credit. He was the one who introduced me to Rhinoceros 3D which I now use to make awesome drawing of my vapourbots. As you can plainly see, I wasn't good at all to start, but I did get better afterwards. This Wedginator's exposed tires did it in, but it did do well in Nick's Byte Size demo tournament. Wedginator 5.0Shape: Tetrahedral Colour: Still an alligator-style texture with an evil face. Weight: 99kg Drive: 2 LEM130s run on 48v, and geared at 6:1. Run by NiMH cells at 48v and sports the same 2 go-kart tires as before, however less beefy. Speed: 25mph Armour: The whole robot's exterior armour is 15mm polycarbonate, and the front flipper has about 5mm of added Lexan. There are also hardox skirts all around, and the front one is more fixed to help getting under opponent. Ground Clearance: Completely zero with skirts all around, without skirts it's 1mm at the front, and 5mm at the sides/rear. Dimensions in CM: 75 x 80 x 25 Weaponry: A front-hinged flipper powered by duel 3kg CO2 tanks in front of the wheels. This gives Wedginator 5.0 the power to flip over 1750kg easily. Srimech: Still invertible, but hard to self-right anyway. Strengths: Weapon, is fast, powerful, and very hard to get under. Weaknesses: Extremely powerful vertical spinners. BIO: In its 5th generation, Wedginator was still the biggest boy of the Team Zlayerz heavyweights. MY CADing skills improved as well. It did VERY well, achieving a high status in FFW4, finally falling to Achilles in the second round of the semi-finals. The big flaw was that it was too powerful for only two tires to drive it. Plus, when it got lifted off the ground, it would get nowhere. And going too fast wouldn't be able to manoeuvre as much. By then, it was time for Wedginator to enter Generation Six... Wedginator 6.0Shape: Wedge with scoop at the back. Colour: Green crocodilian texture. Weight: 100kg Speed: 24mph Armour: 6mm hardox 750 all around the main body except the underside, which is 6mm titanium. Chassis: 3mm hardox 400 box chassis Drive: 2 x LEM130 at 36v. Power: 6 NiCad Battlepacks at 36v Motivation: 6WD. 6 titanium hubs, with vulkalon rubber for traction. Ground Clearance: 0mm at front and rear, and 4mm at the sides. There is a hardox plate at the front with the name of the bot there, to aid in getting under skirts. Diemsnions in CM (LxWxH): 95 x 73 x 35 Weaponry: This is where it gets interesting. Wedginator has an all-around flipper this time around, powered by a single 2.5kg CO2 bottle. How does it work? Well instead of the panel coming up to flip, the entire exterior armour is tilted. As the armour is a little heavy, it will probably only be able to flip about 300kg, and toss 175kg, at both ends. It tilts from the back, so at the front it acts like a front-hinged flipper and at the back the scoop acts like a rear-hinged flipper, so it can fend off attacks at both ends. The armour is attached to the chassis at the front to avoid the armour coming off easily. Srimech: Flipper Strengths: Unique design. 6WD, extreme pushing power, speed, and acceleration. Hard to get under. Flipper still good despite slight lack of power. Weaknesses: No damaging weaponry. BIO: Generation Six brought to Wedginator a full body flipper and a stream-lined CAD design. Add to that some awesome hardox armour and 6WD, and Wedginator was back to fight another day. Of course, it soon become bested as I realized the full-body flipper design was defeated easily by fellow flippers...so I devolved him. ;D Battle Record = 13 wins, 5 losses (13-5) Time of Activity = January 2008 - May 2008 Notable Achievements = 2nd in Eye of the Robot 4 Theme song = "Bulls On Parade" by Rage Against The Machine

Wedginator DevilutionShape: Wedge, sloped sides and rear. The rear is awkwardly sloped so that Wedginator always falls on its flipper when inverted. The wedge has slots in it for air intake and aerodynamics which help it move faster, and also they cool the motors down when moving. Colour: Alligator texture, with an evil face on the wedge, and the name written above and below it. Speed: 16mph average, 35mph maximum. Can be locked at 15mph if needs be. Weight: 100kg Armour: 5mm Hardox with a 7mm titanium baseplate. The skirts are 5mm titanium and the front barbs are 10mm Hardox, bolted in place. Drive: 2 LEM130 Lynch Motors @ 46.2v Power: 14 M1 A123 Lithium-Ion battery packs Motivation: 4WD, 15cm diameter aluminium hubs with urethane tire rubber for grip. The thing is that these wheels are cambered 60 degrees like Tazbot, so although it's 4WD, it gives Wedginator a great ability to manoeuvre. Ground Clearance: 0mm at the front, 0mm at the side with skirts and 6mm without, and 10mm at the rear. Turning Circle: 0 Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 115 x 90 x 30 Weaponry: A front-hinged flipper in a l l l shape on the front wedge, the bars are 5cm wide and are made of 1cm titanium. It is powered by a 2.5kg CO2 tank at 900psi and a 80mm ram, 20mm bore on the middle part. This should give Wedginator enough power to flip at least 750kg away and still have enough after that first flip for about 24-29 more flips. Also there are 'barbs' at the front to hold an opponent on the wedge quite securely. Srimech: The flipper. It rights Wedginator, not by simply tilting him, but swinging him into the air so he lands cat-like on his wheels. Strengths: Fast, very powerful, very manoeuvrable, powerful flipper, weapons synergy should work a lot. Notes: 7th incarnation, very demonic. Another freshening. Moved back to the LEM130s and thickened the Hardox armour, felt it was a bit overweight. BIO: It's Wedginator's 7th generation, and it was damn good. However, there was a concept I anted to try out, and it fit the Wedginator name perfectly, so this rather good design was scrapped in favour of the concept. Wedgin8orShape: A low wedge with angled sides and a rounded back. Check the render for more detail. As you can see, you’d really be put to it to stack this damn thing against the wall. Colour: Okay, now you really need to check the render for the details. XD If you want plain colours, then it’s mostly green-ish black with an evil face on the front, the rear panel and top wedge barbs are red, and the bars are of a muddy colour. Drive: 2 LEM130 Lynch motors, run on 36.3 volts and geared on a 6:1 reduction. Power: 11 M1 A123 Lithium-Ion packs. Motivation: 2WD, inner, large aluminium hubs with thick polyurethane tyres. Speed: Average is between 12-18mph, but it can get up to 25mph when the need arises. Armour: The entire front wedge is 5mm Hardox, even the flipper panels. The rear corners are 3.25mm Hardox and the rear red panel is 7mm Grade 5 titanium, behind that is 15mm 7075 aluminium alloy. The bars are 6mm Hardox. Ground Clearance: The front is 0mm (also when inverted), and the sides are 5mm. The rear is 10mm but that’s okay because it’s rounded, it’s not exactly supposed to be a wedge killer. Turning Circle: Can turn on the spot, so 0m Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 105 x 80 x 31 Weaponry: Wedgin8or is a double-sided front-hinged flipper; that is, it has a front-hinged flipper on the top and another one on the bottom of the robot, so it still has a weapon if it’s on its back. The top flipper is shaped like | and if you placed it on the bottom, the bottom front-hinged flipper would enclose it because it’s shaped like | |. Both flippers are powered by a 2kg CO2 tank, one on each side of the vapourbot respectively, and have a force of around 750kg each. The top flipper runs off of a 100mm x 75mm ram and the bottom flipper runs off of 2 70mm x 45mm rams, so it should be the same force. Both flippers should put out at least 25 flips each, and extend about 75 degrees from the wedge they are on. Also, on the top wedge are titanium barbs for ripping at opponents’ tyres should they get trapped on the wedge. If Wedgin8or gets flipped, the barbs won’t impede Wedgin8or’s movement because they run along the floor. The key is to reverse quickly, and they’ll get stuck with flat tyre syndrome. ;D Srimech: Invertible. Strengths: Excellent manoeuvrability, decent speed and pushing power even for a 2WD bot, well armoured, lovely flippability factor. ;D BIO: Wedgin8or. Tricked out. Yep, the 8th incarnation, and textured using Autodesk 3DS Max. Thanks a ton to Martijn Benschop and Alex Holt for teaching me how to use that program for that purpose! (however the render you see there is actually Rhino with Flamingo because I got fed up with 3DS Max ) Sadly, it's time for this Wedginator to retire, but he's actually got some fighting to do before he's officially retired. Wedginator 9.0Shape: Low/medium-sloping wedge with steeply sloping sides and a rounded rear Colour: Alligator texturing, cobalt cage, and reddish rear panel and lifting spikes. The face is dropped from 9.0 because it'd be hard to get on there. I'll save it for next generation. Weight: 100kg Drive: 2 LEM130 Lynch motors, volted at 36.3v and geared on a 4.5:1 reduction. Power: 11 M1 A123 Li-Ion packs with polypropylene cell holders so the batteries don't get damaged during battles Motivation: 4WD inner; the front two are standard wheels hubs are CNC aluminium and the urethane tires are foam-filled. The rear two are omni-wheels, similar to those of Root Canal; the purpose of these rear wheels is to help Wedginator move around the arena faster and turn without sacrificing speed or power. Speed: 14mph, geared towards a high acceleration for quick sprints. Armour: Rather complicated; the main body is a 4mm Hardox monocoque, but bolted to/around that is a sort of "cage" that runs from the front ends along the side ground clearances and where the front and sides meet to the rear where it forms that bar set-up seen on Wedgin8or. The cage is 5mm titanium/vanadium alloy, and behind the rear bars, also like Wedgin8or, is another panel made of 15mm HDPE to absorb blows. Ground Clearance: 0mm front, 10mm everywhere else Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 105 x 75 x 22 Weaponry: The first weapon is a pair of joint titanium lifting arms ending in spikes, which run all the way up the wedge. They're about 5cm wide and are powered by a linear actuator which is positioned right under it. They can lift about 500kg and can rotate from with the wedge to 105 degrees off the wedge, getting there in about 1 second, so it's a relatively fast weapon, as fast to pneumatics as you can get. The second weapon is a pneumatic spike stationed halfway up the wedge and between the two arms. It's also made of titanium and has a hardened steel tip. Powered by a 2kg CO2 tank, it can exert approximately 900kg at the tip. It can pierce tires, underbellies, and can flip opponent onto their backs should they fall that far up the wedge, thus acting as a front-hinged flipper. Fires about 30 times. Srimech: Either the arms or the spike, but the spike's faster. If I can get away with it, I'd prefer using the arms since I won't waste gas for the spike. BIO: And here we have yet another Wedginator. Lotsa good stuff here; half-omnidrive and a lifter/spike conjunction, with a lovely casing to upset those spinners. Now retired from future competitions in favour of Wedginenvy Wedginator X. Wedginator XShape: A chamfered wedge with side angular wheelpods and a slightly tapered rear. Almost exactly like the 2010 version of Team Bud HW Envy, given that the design was based on it. XD Colour: Random crocodilian green patterns throughout, except on the flipper. A very evil face is on it, with green circuit-board texture behind that. Weight: 100kg Drive: 2 C40-300 MagMotors run on 24v, geared 9:1 for better control. Power: 4 NiCad BattlePacks, run on 24v in parallel. Motivation: 2WD, protected by the side wheelpods. Urethane rubber, CNC aluminium hubs, the good stuff. Speed: 12mph Armour: 6mm Grade 9 Titanium for the exterior armour (can provide an info chart for those in the dark about Grade 9 Ti), and some 10mm 7075 aluminium alloy protecting the area behind the flipper. Ground Clearance: 0 under the front, 15mm under the sides and 30mm at the rear. Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 110 x 100 x 36 Weaponry: Back to the front-hinged flipper. Again, it's modelled on Envy 2010, and the hinge is at the top of the front blade, which is part of the main body. The flipper is powered by a 2kg CO 2 tank, has a 3L buffer tank, and a 100mm bore double-acting ram on 900psi pushes it open and closed. Should comfortably flip over 5 tons about 20-25 times, key word being should. It's all theory, really. Srimech: Flipper. BIO: Back to basics for Wedginator. No fancy shit here; just a front-hinged flipper, a good drivetrain, and crazy experience. Thanks again to Joey for helping with the pneumatics, though it was really late in coming (my fault ).
