The Crash & Burn Mini-Tournament of Death 3
Eliminator 1 Apocalypse II vs. CrOoKeD
Team Welsh Warlords bring in the first robot of the tournament, armageddon style! ;D Apocalypse II is a low sloped 4WD box, with a rounded rear, and one hell of an attitude with 9hp on tap and three sets of great tungsten barbs running down the robot from front to back. The real threat, however, is the 4-bar flipper, full pressure with 1.5kg of CO2 and a 120mm x 100mm ram running it. It's also heavily armoured with a 3.2mm monocoque of Hardox, strengthened with 5mm of ti/v alloy in certain areas...however, under the 5mm titanium skirts is a 8mm ground clearance that can be capitalized by some ramming wedges, and only 10 flips in the flipper means that the Apocalypse may never happen. ;D
Jack Orr barges right in with his team's robot, CrOoKeD! Don't laugh at the weird capitalization, or you'll be flicked out by the CO2-powered flipper this box wedge brings to the table. ;D It's armoured in 6mm Hardox at the front and 6mm titanium at the sides and rear, so it's a tough nut to crack, assuredly. It's got 2WD in the form of MagMotors, go-kart locomotion, and SLA batteries. Its 6mm mild steel chassis is also sturdy, protecting its insides, but the ground clearance around the sides and rear may not give this robot the best manoeuvrability, and with a speed of 20mph, it may prove hard to control as well. Thing is, can CrOoKeD straighten these things out in the warzone, or will the battles leave it warped? ;D

The house robots are King Leer and Asterix Anarchius. The Watcher is, as always, waiting to count out the competitor who expires first.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Mini-tournament, anyone? ;D Like it or not, it's begun again, and it's Liam on the attack first, as Apocalypse swerves around the incoming charge of CrOoKeD and meets the side, almost lazily, as Liam grins! Jack tries to back off, but Liam's already found the side and has snuck under that tiny 2mm ground clearance...but that means CrOoKeD now has enough clearance to get the hell away, and it does so before Apocalypse can take advantage! Once away from Apocalypse, however, CrOoKeD is having a hard time turning. The Welsh robot moves around CrOoKeD easily, getting at the rear of the machine, but CrOoKeD moves straight away! It can go forwards and backwards quite well, but turning seems to be its weak point, and Liam chasing in from behind realizes this all too well, mashing CrOoKeD into the arena wall from the rear, and giving the box wedge a mighty toss! It's unfortunate that CrOoKeD was on an angle however, and Jack's robot flies into the air, in an almost linear trajectory, spinning diagonally, as it comes right back down onto Apocalypse with a rather noisy CRUNCH. It's stuck on the barbs of Apocalypse, and can't get away...and Liam is mightily chuffed by this. He knows he has the advantage, and goes for the pit release button. It's easily struck, but the shock sends CrOoKeD away...almost! CrOoKeD is still hanging off the end of Apocalypse, like a drunkard pinching onto his last pint! ;D Liam, with a rather nasty smirk, backs all the way across the arena, straight towards the pit! But Liam's victory is denied, as with a flick of the flipping arm, CrOoKeD jolts himself off of Apocalypse and out of danger, as APOCALYPSE NEARLY GOES DOWN THE PIT HIMSELF! Whoa, what a CLOSE call! Liam was almost tricked into that, but Mr. Low Box isn't going down there just yet. ;D
CrOoKeD again tries to turn, but still its manoeuvrability is hindered by that too low ground clearance. This means that Apocalypse crashes into the side of CrOoKeD with the force of a rampaging rhinoceros, and slides under with hardly the effort of before! ;D CrOoKeD can't even try to escape like last time, because the barbs have impeded his escape route, which happens to be Apocalypse's own front wedge! Liam doesn't waste any more time. Rather than toy around with his opponent using hazards and house robots, he goes straight to the arena wall and ejects CrOoKeD from the seat of his wedge! CrOoKeD takes flight, bounding over the arena wall like a hurdler, and smashes noisily into the Plexiglas beyond the wall, before coming to rest directly onto the camera track below. As the house robots shift angrily, annoyed at their lack of fun this battle, Apocalypse II spins around with its arm raised, and Liam punches his fist into the air with a slight smile, having quickly taken Round 1.

Aww, Jack, are you feeling CrOoKeD? There's a curling iron for that. ;D Apocalypse II advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 2 Mornington Crescent vs. Flipping Hell
Recent C&B4 Heat Finalist Mornington Crescent was born from the megalomaniacal mind of Steven McGregor! ;D It’s your average cylinder shape...and that’s about as average as it gets! It has TWO spinning rings, one on top, one on bottom, and they spin opposite ways! Couple that with decent power and strong Hardox armour and it gets pretty scary. Tires are exposed from the top, however.
But David Weston don’t give a Flipping Hell about that! ;D His robot has a 4-bar flipper! That is, it works like Biohazard’s arm, but has the speed and power of a flipper! That can lead to a lot of OOTAs! Its drivetrain is about as powerful as Razer’s, so that’s decent. What’s not is the mild steel and aluminium used for the armour, and the number of flips it has...which is very limited. One-flip wonder, or will it be one-hit KO’d?

House robots: Rorschach and Exa-Gore-Ic Evo.
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Not the nippiest start, but quite fierce as Mornington Crescent whirls up a storm of spin and Flipping Hell...moves behind the arena saws. Tactics are critical here, it looks to be. Steve is trying to move around the saws, and get a hit in on Flipping Hell, but Dave isn’t letting him get one...ring around the rosie, or ring around the saws, your choice. ;D Speaking of rings, Mornington Crescent’s two are looking pretty lethal at the moment and Dave better be careful. Cat and mouse, cat and mouse...and finally, Flipping Hell plays the mouse no longer and runs out from behind the saws! Steve...puts the saws between him and Flipping Hell! Obviously, he wants Flipping Hell to mess up, but that's not going to happen because Flipping Hell is more agile, and is catching up...
CRASH!
A noticeable dent in the wedge plate of Flipping Hell, but it's not bothered him much as Mornington Crescent bounces away and is soon collected up onto the wedge! And Flipping Hell goes to the wall! Ahhhh...ah. No, sorry. Mornington Crescent catches a huge break as its upper ring, still spinning, hits the ground before Flipping Hell can toss it, and sends it quite a bit away from its predator. Dave is alarmed by this quick action and moves his machine around, but Mornington Crescent already has his spinning rings...spinning again! ;D Unwilling to allow a bad situation to turn for the worse, Flipping Hell charges into the onset, and meets the tempest of metal!
CRASH!
But again the fortune is in Dave's favour as, though another dent is in Flipping Hell's wedge, it's largely ineffective as the launchbot scoops up Mornington Crescent and smacks him into the wall! ...not a wise move! Mornington Crescent's upper ring smacks the wall and propels the 100kg double ringer out of danger again! But this time Dave is prepared for it, and immediately turns and rams into Steve's spinner before the latter can even reach a tenth of its spinning speed! But the upper ring is spinning again! Flipping Hell tries to turn, but Mornington Crescent slides a bit and Dave moves his bot back to keep the spinner on the wedge. So...he guns it towards the wall! ...and AGAIN, Steve is saved by the upper ring, which has hit the ground a second time and flung Mornington Crescent away, and it's spinning mightily fast now! Flipping Hell is definitely agitated by this flurry of cheap escapes and rams Mornington Crescent straight on again!
CRASH!!
A bit more 'oomph' in that collision! And there's why! A huge chunk of Flipping Hell's wedge is twisted and bent up! I doubt it'll even be able to do any flipping at all now! Not to mention the fact that Flipping Hell's been sent quite a bit away across the arena by the force of that shot! Pleased with himself, Steve moves in for another attack, both rings spinning quite fast. Flipping Hell thinks better of its tactic now and goes for the pit release button, slamming straight into it before Mornington Crescent has even halfway crossed the arena, and turns to face the spinner...who's coming straight for him! Dave does't look like he wants to take another chance with ramming his opponent and get his beautiful wedge wrecked further, and guns around the spinner towards the pit. Steve follows slowly, but nicks the arena saws!
CRASH!!!
OH! That was...uncalled for. Mornington Crescent just killed one of our arena saws! Well, he didn't break it, but it's stuck up and not spinning...you plumb git you! Flipping Hell backs in to take advantage, and its tail nudges Mornington Crescent's immobile lower ring, and moves it back along the side, the upper ring sweeping up across the tail and stopping as well! Jovial, Dave turns his machine around and pushes Mornington Crescent across the arena, right into Rorschach's CPZ! Oh ho ho...the crusher descends! And stops! Even the new house robot's crusher can't penetrate that armour! But it can stop him from spinning! Flipping Hell pushes into Mornington Crescent from behind, trying to get it onto its wedge, but is finding that extremely difficult due to his wedge's condition, and because Rorschach has attached himself to Mornington Crescent's top! And here comes Exa-Gore-Ic Evo, knocking Dave's machine aside and clamping in on both of the spinner's rings! The spike lashes out, but hardly tickles Steve's machine. And Flipping Hell is just waiting to capitalize on an escape attempt, outside the CPZ...but it's not coming. Eventually, Rorschach and Exa-Gore-Ic are largely unable to damage Steve's robot and Mornington Crescent is freed by The Watcher, who shunts either house robot aside and clears the way...for Flipping Hell to fly in! WHAM! Mornington Crescent is scooped up onto the wedge, but before Dave can activate the flipper, Mornington Crescent slides off, and Flipping Hell nearly tosses itself, but is saved thanks to its tail. NOW the spinner is truly free to do what it likes, and Dave is agitated more than ever as Flipping Hell, lacking regard for other tactics, crashes into the twin spinnah!
CRASH!!!
Yowch! That wedge is more bent up than ever, and the poor paintwork! And Flipping Hell's been sent for a loop again! Steve's looking for blood, though, as Mornington Crescent moves in again, its lower ring getting back to speed. Flipping Hell again takes the brave stab at box-rushing the bassa straight away.
CRASH! CRASH!!!
A double hit! The lower ring turned Flipping Hell around just enough for Steve to hit the side with the upper ring! And THAT's done some great damage! A wide gash down the side tells the tale, as again the British flipper goes for a spin, and the Scottish spinner spins back up to maximum killing potential! OH! Mornington Crescent's been hit by an arena spike! He's terribly out of control! But...I think the damage has been done! To Flipping Hell that is! Obviously those heavy shots must have taken their toll on the flipper, because he is completely stationary and unresponsive! Dave's fiddling with the controls, but there's little hope now for the win, as Mornington Crescent – WHOA! Look at that! It's some kind of crazy Mauler dance, but it's not stopping! Steve isn't enjoying this and turns the power for the rings down a bit, as The Watcher moves over to give Flipping Hell the death sentence... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!
Back under control, Mornington Crescent spins back up, and he's hungry for more! Dave sees Steve's robot moving in on his beloved flipper, and calls for Steve to hold off. Steve, sporting about it, backs off and lets the house robots dispose of the Team Hell robot. Rorschach scoops under Flipping Hell and crunches down. Unlike the Hardox shell of Mornington Crescent, the crusher easily sinks through the mild steel/aluminium of Flipping Hell and causes quite the hole. 400kgs of house robot makes itself known as well as Exa-Gore-Ic comes to clamp in on the action, literally. Its claws crush into Flipping Hell's sides and squeeze it, bending metal and ooh, hopefully not the electronics. Dave grimaces, but the worst isn't over yet; Exa-Gore-Ic drags Flipping Hell (and Rorschach, claw still sticking into Flipping Hell's gut ;D ) to the floor flipper! Rorschach finally gets away in time, and 3...2...1...FLIP! Flipping Hell ironically sails across the arena, coming to rest directly on the edge of the pit. Mornington Crescent shunts it down to spare Dave further embarrassment.
CEASE!
Flipping Hell dishonours the name of the devil and limps back to Hades with a broken middle digit! ;D Mornington Crescent advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 3Die-Reverta-Tops vs. EnvyDie-Reverta-Tops hasn’t done so well in its C&B4 debut, but Christopher Mason’s revertosaur is looking to at least make some sort of comeback here in MToD 3. It’s a low wedge based on Spawn Again, with 8mm titanium armour, a powerful flipper, good drive, and a roller on the flipper to help it get out of sticky situations. It will run out of flips eventually, though. But will it get its revenge on... Envy, who pitted its previous form in C&B3? Shane Swan isn’t keen on letting that happen, nope. ;D It’s a realie that's recently been redesigned, with 3.2mm Hardox armour and a 10mm titanium front scoop. C40-300s help it get to 16mph fairly quickly, and a gigantic ram and CO2 tank power the low-pressure flipper. Like its adversary, however, its flipper can only run so long... Roboteers, stand by...House robots: King Leer and Asterix Anarchius 3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!And here we go! A fast start, as both robots plunge wedge-first straight into each other! But unfortunately for Chris it’s Shane who wins the initial showdown here, the scoop proving its use as it finds its way under Die-Reverta-Tops and Envy wastes no time, tossing its fellow flipper onto its back! The roller, however, helps move Die-Reverta-Tops away before Envy can capitalize, since Envy didn’t chase him afterwards, and Die-Reverta-Tops self-rights in magnificent fashion. Perhaps too magnificent, for it came right down on its snout, but it’s now back on its wheels, as Envy whales on the motors and guns it towards the revertosaur. And now the tides turn, for Die-Reverta-Tops has gotten under Envy! And just like that, Envy is vaulted into the air...into a 360! Not good for Chris, as Shane takes advantage of his own acrobatic act and smashes into Die-Reverta-Tops before the latter can close his flipper, and taking Chris to the wall Shane slams him against the arena wall, tossing him over as merely an afterthought. This time, Chris is caught between Envy and the wall, and unfortunately can’t get out because he’s not side-on to the wall, so he self-rights on the spot. Envy is right there underneath, waiting, and has the full 100kg of Dinobot (biccie for the reference ) crash down onto him, in unspectacular fashion...precisely what Shane wanted. He takes Die-Reverta-Tops to an empty CPZ and tosses him straight in there, holding him there and waiting for a house robot to drop in. And drop in one does! It’s the new big, bad ‘n ugly boy, King Leer, who’s visiting today, lad, and you’re the fool! ;D Envy gets the hell out of there as King Leer begins pounding away on the underside of Die-Reverta-Tops...not really doing much damage but preventing Die-Reverta-Tops from self-righting, and that’s critical! Envy, noticing Asterix Anarchius not venturing from his CPZ, moves back in bravely and rams Die-Reverta-Tops, rattling the insides like an...inside that’s been rattled! ;D He barely dodges a shot from the blades of the house robot occupying the CPZ, and Die-Reverta-Tops is desperately trying to right itself to protect its underbelly from further harm, but those blades are denying it completely! Shane, thinking ahead, drives Envy into the pit release, opening the pit, as Die-Reverta-Tops struggles in its predicament, and finally The Watcher arrives to boot King Leer from the CPZ...but you can’t do that, Watcher! The CPZ belongs to the house robots! King Leer’s distractedness is all Chris needs, however, as his robot finally tosses itself into and away from the fell, dreadful King and away after Envy...amazingly, those blows hardly dealt any external damage, and seemingly likewise for the internals, but it did try to right itself several tries...has it wasted too much CO2? Envy is right back in Die-Reverta-Tops’ face, and again gets under its opponent and...no, it rams Die-Reverta-Tops back into that same CPZ! And then it flips. ;D Just not Chris’ day, today, as King Leer resumes hammering away happily onto the underside of the poor revertosaur. Envy backs up and rams Die-Reverta-Tops further into the front of the house robot, trying to stick it on top of the sort of body of King Leer, and gets a shot from the blades itself! Evidently that was a call from King Leer to ‘shoo’! As Chris tries to find some way to right his machine, Envy decides to back off and wait. And ironically that’s the cue when Asterix Anarchius suddenly bursts from its own CPZ and absolutely launches itself into Die-Reverta-Tops’ side...which sends it out of the way! Envy notices and charges towards the still-inverted flipper...who can’t seem to do a thing! Envy rams it nonetheless and presses it against the wall with its front-hinged flipper. Uh...Chris? You had best right your robot unless you want it to be counted out...and clearly Chris is hammering on the flipper button, but clearly Die-Reverta-Tops is unable to seem to use it! And it’s clearly Envy who’s going to move on, as Die-Reverta-Tops progresses no further once again, sprawled pathetically on its back, The Watcher looming nearer and nearer with its ominous countdown not far behind! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!CEASE!Die-Reverta-Tops makes a lasting impression of utter failure, as its roar is reduced to a pitiful whimper! ;D Envy advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 4 The Final Cut vs. Gabriel V
The Final Cut's new to the scene, but that doesn't make him any less dangerous! A Hardox-armoured beast, H-shaped with tracks, and decent drive to power them is all good and well, but the real strength is in its weapon: a scary 35kg horizontal spinning disc in the middle! Its diameter reaches out past the body's entire length, so wedges beware! That being said, it won't have the manoeuvrability of wheeled machines...
and Gabriel V, sadly, is a wheeled machine. ;D 2 wheels, in fact. Around those 2 wheels are C40-300 Magmotors, a 25mm stainless steel frame, a 4mm Hardox main body and a powerful front-hinged flipper that can toss nearly 3 tonnes! It has a tool steel nose cone and side spikes as well, removable titanium skirts on the sides and back, and two giant ears to prevent machine from going over the top. Sadly, with 16mph it'll be hard to control this 2WD beast...

House robots: Count Bleck and Renegade
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Straight away Gabriel V is out, its game plan to take out the disc before it takes him out! However, The Final Cut is, incredibly, the faster of the two, and while not having the better acceleration, backs off before Gabriel can even get halfway across the arena! Its plan falling apart, Gabriel turns face and goes for the pit release button, but Andy isn't blind and sees the change of plans. The Final Cut charges, guns-a-blazing, towards the area, but unfortunately forgets about the arena saws! BZZT! Luckily they haven't carved him up too much, but that's allowed Gabriel to get away and reposition himself. Shaking his fist in the direction of the saws, Andy steers The Final Cut around to keep the disc facing its spunky opponent, whose thoughts are now on full-out aggression as Gabriel plunges towards Andy, the 'stop-the-disc' plan back on! Andy however simply turns his machine and Gabriel nearly shoots straight into the wall! He does turn around fast enough to meet The Final Cut's disc, though. The collision isn't too big, but it has put those killsaws to shame with the huge amount of sparks emanated. ;D Gabriel, having slowed the disc down, moves in further, but The Final Cut isn't too far up the wedge to be blocked by the ears, and falls off to the side, the disc now completely stopped. Gabriel, not knowing anything else to do, flips. It really doesn't do much, as a track was barely hanging over the flipper in the first place, but the track falls back onto the ram before the flipper can be pulled back! Uh oh. Gabriel tries driving backwards, but the disc's held by the tool spike, so The Final Cut is dragged with Gabriel. Andy tries to move The Final Cut away, but neither of his tracks are really touching anything enough to gain traction to move. Gabriel moves towards the pit, his last resort, but at that instant The Watcher crashes into him, ordering Gabriel to 'let go'. You dingbat of a referee, they're stuck! Realizing this, The Watcher sticks his lifting arm in there to try and separate the two. Not only is this completely ineffective, but it forces The Final Cut's track to squeeze in through the 'hole' between the ram and the hinge of the flipper, which closes just a bit more, meaning they really are stuck now!
The audience starts booing; they didn't want to see two robots sit there and struggle with each other. Andy groans and tries to find some way out of this. Joey is looking the slightest bit confident, but also seems quite peeved. As for The Watcher, he can't seem to do much and decides to call for back-up. Renegade comes out of his CPZ at the ref's request, pincers snapping, but neither Gabriel or The Final Cut seem to want any part of this, and Joey guns towards the pit before the house robot can arrive. Andy is looking less happy than ever as the dark hole nears and nears, and flicks the controls back and forth, trying to get The Final Cut out of danger. Renegade pursues them, but Gabriel's on the edge of the pit, and goes side on to the edge, hoping against hope that The Final Cut falls in first...and that he does, dragging Gabriel in with him. ;D Renegade pouts on the edge of the pit while Count Bleck randomly blasts smoke out of his top hat. Andy sets down the controls and after a moment's hesitation gives Joey the thumbs-up.

The Final Cut lives up to his name! It was no choice slice, let me tell you. ;D Gabriel V advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 5 Lethal Weapon vs. Qwertyuiop
Lethal Weapon is a danger to everything around it...and itself! ;D It's a skirted box with a curved front, which holds a 30kg spinning disc. It can produce very well over 100kJ and is shockproofed to deal with recoil...but will that be enough? 3mm Ti/V alloy armour is decent but not invincible, and 4WD with S28s powering them are decent as well. However, tight dimensions could have it seeing massive manoeuvrability problems.
Qwertyuiop is ready to kick your ASCII back to cyberspace! ;D It's got a very powerful rear-hinged flipper at the front, and 7mm titanium body armour. Lynch drive on 48v ensures it'll have the nippier start by far, and sloped sides will help this wedge get on its back where it can self-right. However, with a 2WD set-up and 17mph top speed, it'll be out of control a bit. And it'll run out of flips eventually: CO2 doesn't last forever.

House robots: Exa-Gore-Ic Evo, Hexadecimal
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Strategy is key here, and Qwertyuiop starts off applying some by swerving around, trying to dodge the strokes of Lethal Weapon. The drivetrain is really slowing Lethal Weapon down and Qwertyuiop takes advantage; it sneaks around faster than Lethal Weapon can turn, and sliding under the side tosses it! Well, it could have been flipped, but strangely enough the gyroscopic tendencies of Lethal Weapon's disc caused it to bound into the air from the flip, seemingly hover for a bit, and crash back down, completely unharmed! Or so we think. We'll have to see. Anyway, Navaha brings his bot back on the attack again, as Lethal Weapon is a bit slow to try and keep up with the quirky wedge. So Tony spins it the other way, and Nav seeing this backs his machine the hell away, as Lethal Weapon's clever manoeuvre saves it from another flipping, for now. Tony, grinning, advances on the apprehensive flipperbot, who backs away further and then starts circling Lethal Weapon again. Tony goes for the turn around tactic again, but Nav...keeps turning! And past the disc! Tony wasn't expecting this at all; feverishly, he tries to turn and attack, but Qwertyuiop's snuck under the side of Lethal Weapon again; rather than simply toss, he thinks better of his strategy and tosses him into Hex's CPZ. The Queen of Chaos has her upper blades down and...oh dear.
CRASH!!!
Hexadecimal, that was very unwise of you, m'dear. The chaotic house robot finds herself missing a blade, as Lethal Weapon sheared it right off! However, it's stopped that disc, and Qwertyuiop moves in again, lifting Lethal Weapon overtop of Hexadecimal and further into the CPZ, where it's...still on Hex's remaining blades. Hex lifts it up and has it against the wall; Qwertyuiop is waiting in the center of the arena. Why he's not hitting the pit release, I don't quite know. Anyway Hex raises her upper blades all the way, and exposes the lower spinning blades! Lethal Weapon slides down the wall, thanks to the force of the disc, but not fast enough to avoid the house robot's fury!
CRASH!!!
However strong 3mm Ti/V is, it is not impervious to a hit like that! The underbelly takes a brutal dent as Lethal Weapon flies off the wall...and into the waiting wedge of Qwertyuiop, who deposits him back into Hex's CPZ! Unfortunately, Lethal Weapon's disc is still spinning, so that means...
CRASH!!!
Hex loses another blade! Apparently even house robots get brutalized by this thing! But certainly not the direct opponent so far! Qwertyuiop now has the spinning bot, who's not spinning at all, on its wedge...and it takes the box to the arena saws! Whoa! Lethal Weapon's weapon is spinning again! But you what what else is spinning! BZZT! That's right! Sparks time! The arena saws cut into the armour of Lethal Weapon and send those glittering fireworks across the arena! Qwertyuiop holds him there as long as he can, but eventually is forced to let him go, as The Watcher reminds him with a little nudge. Qwertyuiop backs off, and Lethal Weapon's...okay, I guess, but I see a great deal of smoke coming from the robot...oh no, the blade's spinning! Qwertyuiop watches warily, and then drives off as Lethal Weapon comes at it, apparently recovering from the earlier attacks but losing steam...er, smoke. ;D Qwertyuiop suddenly drives into the arena saws, which stop him completely...no, they throw him back into Lethal Weapon!
CRASH!!!
...ooh. That wasn't pretty. A whole rear panel goes soaring away into an empty CPZ, Qwertyuiop itself sent spinning into a crazy dance! But...oh dear again. Lethal Weapon isn't moving. OH! That's why!!! A chain from the drivetrain has been severed, lying underneath Lethal Weapon's side! Actually...two of the wheels are spinning...but they aren't gaining enough traction to actually move the robot...what a shame, as the disc is still spinning as well. Qwertyuiop, however, is moving rather slowly...but it gets behind Lethal Weapon and starts pushing it towards...the arena wall! ...don't you dare!
CRASH!!!
You dared! How could you?! The poor arena! Actually, poor Lethal Weapon, it isn't looking so lethal anymore, the shock from hitting solid wall has abruptly put an end to its disc, the shockproofing not proof enough. As if to end all doubt, the almost expired Qwertyuiop moves under Tony's bot and with a weary flick, just manages to get the former spinner out. Navaha dances about, celebrating his first victory ever, while Tony facepalms.

Eliminator 6 Nitro-Gene 5.0 vs. Monsoon Season
Nitro-Gene 5.0. Yes, that robot. ;D The one who came 4th in C&B3, and the recent C&B4 Heat Finalist. Completely unchanged, with overvolted S28-400 MagMotors and 4WD to propel the invertible angled box to 20mph quite quickly. Its has compact dimensions, but big enough to accommodate the Nitrogen-powered flipper that can send robots flying...however, those flips are very limited. It also brings to the table a 3.25mm Hardox monocoque, and 4.5mm titanium skirts around the body proving mildly impervious to spinner assault. Will Nitro-Gene burn out or boost its way to the top? ;D
Monsoon Season looks to wash away its opponent in style. It's an angled box wedge with a body shell constructed from a piece of 30mm HDPE, the stuff that doesn't break. :proud: The Atomic-style flipper is made from 4mm Hardox, and is powered by 3 1.1kg CO2 tanks and 2 80mm stroke 6mm bore rams, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that those flips will hurt. :proud: It's got 35 of them too, so it can outlast its opponent. It also has more power in the LEM130 it powers its drive with, and has tracks for more traction. Having tracks, though, won't see it being as manoeuvrable...

House robots: Rorschach and Damocles
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Yowch! That was a blindingly fast start! And it's Nitro-Gene who's flown across the arena before Monsoon Season has even moved a few inches! The said Monsoon Season is met by the tenacious C&B3 finalist with an almighty CRASH, but, strangely enough, neither can seem to get their flipper under the other robot! They struggle in this position, and surely enough Daniel wins the pushing match with his greater drivetrain. Paul however pulls back immediately and Monsoon is sent flying forward, a perfect opportunity for Paul to take! Which he does, sliding under the 7mm clearance and taking Monsoon to the...no. Just no. Nitro-Gene lost control of Monsoon Season and Daniel's robot falls right off the flipper, leaving Monsoon with the advantage now! Paul can't even blink before Monsoon's flipper sends his robot onto its back! Nitro-Gene hurriedly races off to right itself, with Monsoon pounding away after it! The flip comes, and Nitro-Gene goes into a 540 before crashing magnificently onto its 4 wheels on the arena floor. Which is fine by Daniel because he gets straight back under Nitro-Gene before the latter can even turn and tosses him again! Nitro-Gene rides the arena railing before falling back into the arena, but still on its back, and on the edge of a CPZ. It drives away lest a house robot migrate to the choice spot, and...no, Monsoon's under it! Daniel doesn't flip yet, thoughl; his main tactic is getting Paul to waste his robot's flips, but Paul isn't flipping anything either! So Monsoon holds Nitro-Gene against the arena wall for quite a bit, as the crowd becomes quite bored, and eventually it's Watcher time, as the ref barges in and forces Monsoon to...flip Nitro-Gene! Oh, that was a close-r, t'was! Another arena railing bouncing, but Nitro-Gene finds itself still on its back, thankfully still inside the arena though! Monsoon approaches again, but Paul is ready, and this Nitro-Gene rights itself...in a perfect imitation of Mute! A 540 right overtop of Monsoon! Ah, but there's no aerials to make Monsoon go all nutty... ;D
Knowing this Paul attacks Daniel's machine, but Monsoon's quick enough to get his own flipper into play, and again the two metal behemoths lock horns, or in this case flippers. Paul pulls away, hoping that Daniel falls for the same trick, but no go! Dan hadn't taken the bait and remained right where he was! Now he drives forward but Nitro-Gene smacks into him again! And finally one of the two flippers gets under the other. The winner? Monsoon Season! Though not the battle, yet, sir. ;D Having taken all of Nitro-Gene's wheels off the ground, Monsoon drives forward again and tosses Nitro-Gene across the arena. You know, in an awkward way, Nitro-Gene looked like a dog trying to catch a Frisbee in mid-air, just then. ;D It does catch the ground though, and is belly up, though not in the mood for a tummy tickle and re-rights itself...or does it? Nope, it went into a 450 and crashed onto its snout...before coming back down onto its back! Apparently he's running short of full pressure now! Seeing this, Monsoon leaves Nitro-Gene in its self-righting misery and goes for the pit release button...but Nitro-Gene is right behind it! Daniel, didn't you realize that Paul's machine is invertible? ;D Not that it makes much difference...or does it? Nitro-Gene's rear skirt finds Monsoon's rear and gets under it, the angled rear of the body not hindering the progress at all as Monsoon is slammed against the pit release button...what's that sly grin on Paul's face?! ...oh wow. So that was the plan! Pity it didn't work as hoped. Nitro-Gene flipped itself while under Monsoon, sending the Britespark flipper very nearly OOTA but Monsoon just manages to stay in the arena, performing an excellent replication of Nitro-Gene's railing bouncings, before coming to rest inverted! But Nitro-Gene ISN'T inverted now! As Monsoon self-rights, Nitro-Gene pummels it from the side, gets under, and flips...and suffers because its flipper isn't powerful enough to get Monsoon Season over the fence this time! It has however pinned the fellow flipper against the arena wall, so it holds Monsoon there for a few seconds, then tries flipping it again. The effect is somewhat weaker, even then, as Monsoon is carefully rolled along the wall onto its back. Monsoon self-rights, but again the tenacious Nitro-Gene is back on its case, wedging it immediately and pushing it into Rorschach's CPZ! Who watches the Watchman? Why, the Watcher, who else? ;D But for now Rorschach can have his fun as Monsoon is swept into the plow/scoop, and squeezed by the claw! Ooooh...HDPE, however thick it is, it's not holding up to the piercing beak. Look at that, what a major hole in the armourment! Damocles isn't moving from his CPZ, content to let Rorschach do away with the Britespark machine, but Rorschach lets Monsoon go...has damage been caused internally? Daniel answers this question with a hefty ram to the front of Nitro-Gene, who'd been loafing about in the center of the arena and not paying quite as much attention as he should have. And thus Nitro-Gene is wedged onto the fellow flipper and taken the opposite way of Rorschach's CPZ...unfortunately, that's Damocles' CPZ! This won't end well!
CRASH!!!
No it does not! The rear skirt deflected a bit of the blow, but the rear panel above it got cut into quite nastily, a large gash even in that Hardox monocoque! Dear or dear, it's also sent the Insanity machine back over, inverted! This of course means Monsoon's lost control of it, but it does mean Nitro-Gene has to self-right again...and it barely does. But it took too much time to self-right and Monsoon is the early bird, sliding under the rear skirt and then under the main body, tossing it over once more! It then pushes Nitro-Gene...towards the pit! Nitro-Gene can't get away in time...and doesn't trouble to. What's this about? Dan notices this too, and pushes the wedged Nitro-Gene a bit slower, wondering what Paul has up his sleeve...then it guns forward! Paul expects this and hits the flipper button, as Nitro-Gene throws itself off of Monsoon AND OVER THE PIT!!! AND MONSOON NEARLY GOES IN!!! What! A! Tactic! It didn't work out fully the way Paul wanted it to, but Nitro-Gene survives longer! Will it be in vain? Monsoon backs WELL away from the pit, and drives around it to find the Nitrogen user, only to find the cheeky bugger coming in from the side! It wedges Monsoon...but can't seem to flip him! I think the flipper's power is very well gone! It does however push Monsoon back into Rorschach's CPZ, where the house robot gladly makes a second date with the HDPE of Monsoon, creating another wide indent with the beak! This time Nitro-Gene hovers near the CPZ, wanting to capitalize on a release, but Rorschach isn't letting go yet! It pushes Monsoon against the wall of the CPZ and makes yet another hole, this time right near the flipper! Will that damage them? Daniel tries to pull away but there's no escaping the wrath of the crushing weapon! At least until Rorschach finally lets him go after that...and yes Monsoon is definitely moving slower! Evidently some electronics have been damaged, and there's Nitro-Gene right back in Monsoon's face...but to no avail, as Monsoon gets under it! Seeing the pit ahead, Monsoon drives towards it, and this time there's no help for Nitro-Gene as Monsoon gets it down!

Nitro-Gene? More like Halo-Gene, for heaven's where Paul's machine is now. ;D Monsoon Season advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 7Under Pressure vs. SymmetryUnder Pressure is gonna put the squeeze on you with its double crusher set-up. The claws below are actually wedges and they aim to get under opposing robots' sides, where the real claws on top come in, fine-pointed to pierce through all in its grasp. The whole claw set-up is armoured in 3.5mm Hardox and is powered by a Vivoil pump and LEM130 running it. It can run invertible but it doesn't work as well inverted. MagMotors run the actual 2WD and 5mm titanium guards the 'main body' between the claw axles, but it has huge ground clearance around the claws, except at the tips of the bottom ones. That and it's quite cumbersome. For a robot called Symmetry, it ain't symmetrical when you split it down the middle on the x-axis, but I'm just being picky now. ;D It's rather round and tall, with 2WD (4WD in actuality, but the wheel set-up is that of Crushtacean, note ) making it invertible. Hardox armouring protects its vitals and it has a low enough ground clearance, but the real threat is the counter-rotating discs powered by Perm 080 motors. Such counter-rotations prevent overbalancing, and the discs are ridiculously powerful. Not a robot for the long battles, however, as the batteries will drain very quickly. Roboteers, stand by...House robots: Count Bleck and Asterix Anarchius 3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!And we're underway yet again in the MToD 3! Under Pressure comes forward immediately, seeking an early end of its opponent down the pit, but Symmetry has other plans. It swerves around the claws, only to find them in front of it again. Martijn's full-body crusher isn't too shoddy at turning, and it races forwards again as Symmetry tries to turn and attack. The result is that the lower disc grinds against the area between Under Pressure's right upper and lower claws, and comes to a halt, while the upper one spins aimlessly. Grinning broadly, Martijn activates the crusher and closes it in against its enemy, the claws shut tight on the disced robot, and Martijn drags it over to the pit release. Leo tries to get away but it's hopeless! Naught you can do now, me disced friend; the pit descends and Under Pressure drags Symmetry over to it! What a quick match this is! Under Pressure has inherited the spirit of T.A.N., tough as nails as it dumps Symmetry into the pit and completes a very quick and very excellent match! However...Asterix Anarchius, feeling robbed of a good time, rockets over suddenly and dumps Under Pressure into the pit itself! ;D CEASE!Symmetry looks a bit uneven after that swift dunking. ;D Under Pressure advances to Round 2!

Eliminator 8 Minesweeper 1.1 vs. Next Stop, Jupiter
Minesweeper 1.1 is a vapourbot by Mark Elam...question is, will it sweep away the competition, or itself be swept away? Box shaped, invertible, 4WD, and bare bones tough. Quad S28-400 MagMotors power it, and it's armoured in a 5.5mm Hardox monocoque. The main weapons are the front and rear scoops, freely hinged and can work invertibly. However, they don't really do any physical damage, and invertible scoops aren't exactly the most leveraging of weapons...
Next Stop, Jupiter is the bassa' child of Phrizbee and Hexadecimator, and actual son of retired bot Thanatos. Basically a Warrior SKF clone with Hardox and Ti/V armour and Bosch motors powering an invertible 4WD. The trademark rim-powering-flipper set-up is there too, on par with the actual Warrior SKF's power levels. However, being a clone, it shares Warrior's weaknesses: the flipper can't work if the rim won't work, and it's relatively unstable.

House robots: King Leer, Hexadecimal
3... 2... 1... ACTIVATE!
Here goes nothing, eh? The last two are willing to give it all, and right off Minesweeper is across the arena, bashing into the incoming NSJ, but unfortunately for Mark NSJ's own momentum and great leverage advantage has its flipper easily defeat the invertible scoop of Minesweeper, and Samuel wastes no time in tossing Mark's bot onto its head...in a 540! Even less fortunately for Mark he lands side-on to NSJ, who proceeds to get under Minesweeper again and launches it across the arena! Being invertible, Minesweeper will always land on its wheels, and proves so by spinning about, but Samuel has scored quite a few points early on and Mark has to catch up quickly, should it go to a judges decision! Minesweeper hurriedly moves back in, and deftly swerves around another charge from NSJ, so getting to the sides of it, but in doing so is greeted by the spinning rim, which cuts into the scoop!
CRASH!!!
And Minesweeper is sent spinning away, straight over the saws which pop up and - BZZT! - cut into the underbelly! Doesn't seem to have done much damage, however, and Minesweeper moves in again. This time, NSJ can't get enough speed to power under Minesweeper and the scoop bashes into the flipper; neither can get under, but Minesweeper's power advantage comes into play alarmingly fast, pushing Samuel's machine back, and into King Leer's CPZ! The powerful house robot pushes back, catches the rim with its wedge and deflects NSJ onto said wedge, pushing it back into Minesweeper. Minesweeper is forced back by Leer's immense drivetrain prowess, but keeps pushing itself against NSJ, unwilling to leave it alone should NSJ escape the king of the DarkZlayerz. Hexadecimal watches greedily from her CPZ as King Leer pushes both robots all the way across the arena towards her CPZ, and Mark realizes what's going to happen, before it does! ...or does it? No! To Mark's intense relief, he is able, just barely able, to extract Minesweeper's scoop from against NSJ's side and scoot his robot away, as King Leer reaches the CPZ of the chaotic queen! Samuel watches on in horror...oh this can't be good!
CRASH!!!
A monumental CRASH later and NSJ is blasted onto King Leer's front by Hex's deadly blades, landing directly on top of the wedge of Leer, in a shower of sparks; Minesweeper waits eagerly nearby, but apparently no damage has been done to NSJ, either...however that doesn't help its situation right now! King Leer's blades can't reach right in front of him, but NSJ is pegged in there and he's helpless! Possibly assured by Samuel's frightful position, Mark goes after the pit release and hits it, lowering the pit, then comes back. But during this Leer has slammed NSJ further into Hexadecimal's CPZ, and Hex is lifting NSJ off the wedge...and he's away! Minesweeper is thus met with a colossal ram to the scoop; such momentum is carried by Samuel's robot and it easily gets under Minesweeper...and he flips Minesweeper, though not as high as Samuel hoped due to NSJ's rim not fully spun up. And this works in Mark's favour as Minesweeper recovers quickly and rams into NSJ before the latter can lower its flipper...and now the pit is in line! A determined gleam in Mark's eyes, he guns Minesweeper's motors to their highest output and pushes NSJ back! NSJ tries to turn backwards but it's too late and NSJ goes over the side edge of the pit, just enough so that it falls in moments later! Perhaps it's the shock of actually winning its match, but Minesweeper drives in moments later! ;D

Next Stop...well actually, there ain't no more stops for you besides the pit, Samuel. ;D Minesweeper 1.1 advances to Round 2!
